Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

But the Frigate would have had to been close by, we should have been able to see it. Plus, it fires two rounds, I´m pretty sure that´s overkill for a Corvette.
It's possible that they were only archer missile pods, that's what they used on the beach to shoot the corvette. Then again they may not have created a blast that large.

But there was Corvette pretty much right over the Traxus Tower. When you´re trying to activate the Missle Batteries, you can see one right over your head, in the city where you came from.

Who says the guns weren't set up when the Covenant weren't in the area?

What a waste....

Maybe they were SAMs or other missiles that failed to kill it, but weakened it so that the final battery of turrets knocked it out.

Good point, Reach is the military hub of UNSC, why wouldn't one put approriate defenses in a large city during a time of war? Still, what in the world is an FBF, it's cerainly no MAC. This part also takes place during the suicidal grunt run, right before you meet some brutes for the first time. Wouldn't you see something in the sky then if only about five minutes passes between events?

Racism isn't wrong if it's funny.

The same type of Magnetic Accelerator Canon that Noble Six uses at the end of "Pillar Of Autumn".

Final Protective Fire is NOT a type of gun. It's a military command/request/action.

Basically, it's when a squad requests heavy artillery/firepower to strike near their location to prevent them from being overrun. It can be many types of weapons doing it. First page somebody liked to the wikipedia article on it.

don't understand why the Frigate would have to be close by, Magnetic Accelerator Cannons have an immense range, as do Archer Missiles and also unless you wanted to die you would not call a MAC in as Final Protective Fire, since FPF is generally danger close, you don't want potentially a 50 kiloton explosion close to your men!

what is to say it wasn't merely an attack run by a bunch of Longsword bombers or the likes? maybe something similar to a modern cruise missile, who knows...

Something that couldn't stop a Corvette would've had to bee really weak. You can see those missiles in the ending cutscene doing heavy damage on the front section.

The missiles finished it off. The other things that had already hit it must have weakened it.

The missiles also hit weak points, similarly to the onager destroying a CCS class battlecruiser. Normally it would do little damage, but in the right place after the shields have been taken down it can be lethal.

I was asking what it was that was shooting, because if it made the ground shake like that it must be pretty damn big

Exactly. If Reach were the UNSC´s military hub, New Alexandria, being the crown jewel it was, would have alot heavier defenses. And they would probasbly have AA batteries on the outside of the city insteed of in the middle.

It might have been something attached to the building, I've personally always wondered what it was as well.
