depends on your motherboard and cpu. AGP or PCI? How much do you want to spend? I'm putting one together right now and i just picked up a GeForce 7800 GTX KO for about $550u.s. but that high-end. i think we need more info on your stuff dude.

the specification of your gpu signifies that it is an integrated graphics controller, meaning that your graphics are running directly off of a chip on your motherboard. The answer to your question is YES you definately need a new gpu. You need to find out however, if you have an agp, pci-x 16, or no graphics port on your mobo. If you dont have either of these, you pretty much screwed as far as graphics go. But, once you find out what kind you have, go to http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/Category.asp?Category=38, and find one that meets your needs and wallet size. Btw if you cant find out your graphics card slot spec, call or email the manufacturer of your computer. Goodluck.

it is a dell. what is a agp,pci-x 16, or no graphics port on mobo?
If it is a 128mb video card. will it make my pc 128mb. or add 512 and 128 up and get 640?
I am looking to spend around 70 but I can spend some more.

Ok first, i saw a pic and the specs of Dimm3000. It comes w/ integrated graphics... not really a suprise from dell. However, im am confused by your post saying "If it is a 128mb video card. will it make my pc 128mb. or add 512 and 128 up and get 640?". I think that you are asking whether or not the memory from the GPU will combine with the memory you already have. The answer is no, and honestly you dont want them to. your graphics card uses its memory for processing and displaying graphics only. The 512 is your all around memory and this is used for running apps and also some for graphics. So if you get a GPU with 128mb, then you will have 128 mb just for displaying graphics. And as for Agp and PCI-X16 they are the two mainstream graphic card ports on mobos <MOther BOards>. PCI-X16 is the newer of these two types, and therefor can produce better graphics, providing a proper card is provided. However, from my personal experience, Dell computers with integrated graphics dont have either of these ports, so you would be better off buying a new computer. ALSO:::: do not attempt to upgrade single parts other than GPUs ,CPUs, or CD/DVD drives. on dells, they use proprietary parts that are designed specificly for dell. EX: dell uses memory with different ridge patterns, and standard off the shelf memory wont even fit in the slots. Unfortunately, looking at your budget, you may be outta luck on this one, and youll need to evaluate whether or not this is really important to you or not, and whether or not you can live with your current situation.

DEEP BREATH

Also, if you really, really dont want to open your computer up <if you do open it, DONT TOUCH ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!> Then you could try contacting dell and asking them if your computer has an AGP 4x/8x port or a PCI X16 port. If it doesnt, theirs customer support may suggest a PCI card. A PCI card is the most archaic connecter on mobos that still are mainstream. (the PCI-X16 is an advanced version of PCI developed purely for graphics cards.) PCI can connect anything from GPUs to Soundcards to Internal Modems. PCI GPUs are pretty much worthless, because of the low speed <causing a lag in image>. On the plus side, they can be relatively cheap, the best and most expensive on newegg is $89 US. If you feel it to be absolutely nessecary, and you have $89 bucks+shipping that you may end up wasting, then go ahead and buy this. here if you cant or dont want to do that, well.... I dunno. Save your money until you can get a gaming computer.

Hi, At least you will need a ATI Radeon 9600 or a NVIDIA Gforce to unleash all the HALO performance

Guy with the Dell: You need a new pc. A P4 Celeron is slow, but a P3 system is pretty bad. I'd roll with AMD. You can get a new system for under $800. If you plan on getting a new one, tell us its specs, though, because you can't just buy a new pc and expect it to be great. What I'd suggest is you do NOT buy something from Dell, Gateway, or HP. They're loaded with bloatware - all of the programs you don't need and don't want. There are smaller manufacturers that do not load their pc's up. Some good places are XTechnology and Monarch Computers. A system with an Athlon 64 3000+, 1GB of RAM, and a 6600GT will run you under $800.

Baratos: If you've got the AGP slot, then yes. Just open the case, switch them out, uninstall the old drivers, and install the new ones.

I just relized that my computer doesn't have an agp slot... I just friggen wasted 569 dollars on a waste of a computer. Is there absolutely ANY way that I could upgrade the gfx card?
any way at all. It took me about two years to save up for a computer...

well you could go with a PCI gpu... if you want to... i gave a link in an earlier post to one that might make your graphics better... but like i said earlier, PCI isnt exactly the fastest form of connecting graphics cards. This is pretty much your last resort if you want to change your graphics.

once again, i suggest this card if your gonna go w/ PCI.

The 5500 that was posted is a LOT better than the 9200. Get the 5500, NOT the 9200.

guys, guys, guys... hold up. This guy obviously has no idea what a "mobo" is, or what the amount of RAM on a GPU signifies. Or even what kind of slot his computer has.

Okay...basically I think he's fine with his processor as long as it's +2.5Ghz I think he'll be okay even though it's a P3. Basically if you want a noticeable improvement you'll have to be willing to spend more then $70, bottom line. You can get a decent (AKA crap card by our standards, but it will work, no need to be flashy, try not to tell him ridiculously expensive stuff) card for about $120 US. I'd try either the ATI 9800 Pro, or perhaps one of Nvidia's FX line. Preferable something either like the 5600+ or a 6200. I'm not an expert on this stuff but bottom line I think someone needs to tell this guy that his computer isin't a total piece of crap, and that if he wants Halo to run properly he'll have to spend more than $70.

Sometimes, other than computer-talk mubo-jumbo and flashy system specs. All he wants, is to play the game. I don't think he's asking for a freaking Ferrari.

oh yea, my bad. I just noticed that he said PCI only. That really limits what he can get though, too bad I wish there was more he could do.
