They are making an HD remake, it comes out this year as Halo's 10th anniversary. The thing is, it's not going to be made by 343 industries. Instead it's going to be made by Saber Interactive, the same developers who brought us Timeshift. But the good news is that they are going to be using the Reach Engine :D

Just a rumor. It has not been confirmed.

If this is true, then one of my biggest concerns with new Halo games can be avoided.

My top concerns with new Halo games is:
-Storyline loses that 'glow' that Halo 1-3 had.
-The game begins to feel just 'different', difficult to describe. (different engines are always annoying to transition to and from)
-New innovations I don't like (comes with any new games though)

This is the way the World Ends.

I'm not gana get my hopes up, any Halo that isn't made by anyone not afflicted directly with Bungie isn't going to be that good.

to be honest, as a fan of the Halo Universe from day one back on the original X-block I am starting to think its time for a serious reboot/consolidation of the franchise, both in the game universe and the story universe. think the Halo Universe has been left to grow beyond its original constraints, or at least those set down by the first games and books of the franchise. the essence of the story has become lost in translation throughout the games and people, myself included keep noticing glaring holes in what is supposed to be the backbone of the franchise, the ongoing story, mainly continuity errors with things as mundane as technologies, weapons and the likes.

first point is, the current method of game mechanics has took us as far as possible I think, time for a fundamental rethink of the way the game acts, the feel of your character. problem me is I think the games let the Halo Universe down so much, mainly due to lack of feeling, lack of personality. the reason I think the games lack 'intimacy' is because they don't do a very good job of portraying the horrors of war, the story by definition is about the genocide of the human race, it should be much less shall we say upbeat? much more dark, moody and dare I say graphic, to do the horrors of war justice.

would start with a solid foundation to build upon, the Covenant are a formidable enemy, make them formidable! SPARTAN-II are suppose to be the bleeding edge of humanity, why can't I as a SPARTAN-II do things that normal marines can't do, they seem to be able to run as fast, get shot and not die. they have to do something about that, since I no longer feel like a SPARTAN when I am playing a Halo game, there is nothing to set my character apart from the normal grunts and what not, have a lot of things I would gladly change in the hope of creating a more immersive and mature experience, another thing, when I loose my shield and take fire to my armour, how does my armour regenerate? why can't there be a system that has your armour take permanent damage, forcing players to be more adept, mind their surroundings more, why do we have to keep resorting to 'health packs' and 'health regeneration' like Call of Duty, its making games too simple!

so to end it off, please 343 Studios, make Halo: Combat Re-Evolved a better representation of the Halo Universe, get rid of the cliche first person shooter stuff and give us a truly memorable experience, it can be done!

Assuming my source from wherever I heard this is correct, 343i has a handful of people who used to work directly with Halo in Bungie.

Also, I have a feeling that 343i may cooperate with Bungie to make the game 'satisfactory' to it's parent.
Much like Halo Wars and how it was produced.

Halo 3 and rech were both made by bungie and they weren't that good.

Invailed logic, Bungie's time is up.

Indeed. There is still no source to come forward and state that it's happening and who is making it. Instead it's just "sources say this" and "sources say that". Not very credible information to work off of at the moment.

Furthermore I wouldn't be excited if Saber Interactive was the studio behind a remake. After seeing what they can do with Battle LA....well...I don't want to think how badly things could go if they were tasked with making a remake even if assets were given to them.

I look forward in what the final product is. I truly hope that it steps up to all the hype that many have been giving it.
