Hey Seventh Column,

So, I remember back when Xbox LIVE for the Original Xbox was being shut down there was several warnings to double check that you have your purchased DLC on your current console for your Original Xbox games as you won't be able to download it after LIVE is shut off for the Original Xbox.

I went online in Halo 2 to make sure I had all the map packs - no problems, they were all on my console and all worked fine both in online and offline play as I had redownloaded them on my 360 so that the license was there.

Great, that's done.

Now, however, when I load up Halo 2 and go into a multiplayer lobby (for offline play, obviously) and go to select a map, it tells me my "Downloaded Maps are corrupt or missing. Please redownload them."

I went to my System Settings and Memory and checked the Halo 2 save folder - all the map packs are there.

Hopefully now you can understand why I am frustrated - I went on before Xbox LIVE was shut off for Original Xbox and made sure I had all my maps - and now it says they are corrupt and I must redownload them... which is obviously not possible.

Here's the funny part. The reason they're corrupt? I had my console sent for repairs and got a new one back, and since it's not the same console the maps were downloaded on it says they are corrupt and have to be redownlaoded. The license transfer was done and all my 360 marketplace content has been transferred but obviously original Xbox content can't be redownloaded at this point. It's very frustrating and I feel like I have been robbed all of the money that I paid for them because it is Microsoft's fault that I lost them.

If anybody has any suggestions on how to get them working - I'm open. I've tried everything I can think of.

Thanks for any tips on how I can get the problem fixed - I appreciate any advice.

Cheers!

I've posted this both on BNET and Halo Waypoint in hopes that I can find some help!

EDIT:

What's also interesting is that the original Xbox LIVE servers seem to not have been shut off completely. I had recently cleared my Xbox 360 HDD cache - which wipes all system title updates from your console for all games - when I loaded Halo 2 up one day.

I selected my profile and then it prompted me to sign into LIVE as per usual - I selected my gamertag. Instead of saying 'connection troubles' or whatever like normal, it said 'An update is available for this game from Xbox LIVE.'

It then took me to the green original Xbox title update screen - downloaded and installed the update. When it booted up Halo 2 it had the updated version number in the corner. At this point, it said connection problems when connecting to LIVE. However, it shows that the original Xbox servers weren't completely shut down - so why won't it let us get our DLC content back if it lets us get title updates... especially that which we paid for!

Halo 2 for Life!

Call Microsoft, say I want halo 2 options back. See what they say and bring it back here than I'll read what you wrote.

I called them a while back and they still insist you can redownload the maps.

First they said don't do anything over live. So, without the disk inserted:

1 Clear cache
2 Go to dash and find settings/account management
3 Select download history
4 Select downloads you want
5 After downloading do the license thing (xbox.com/DRM)

I haven't done this, it's what MS swears will work for H2 map packs. Someone said the download history does not appear but idk.

Original Xbox content does not appear in your download history in account management because it was not downloaded via the Xbox LIVE marketplace. It's from in-game directly and is not tracked in your download history in account management.

Ok, thanks. Why don't the MS people know this, they were very adamant even after I told them that people said the maps were not in the history?

It's because Microsoft doesn't want to admit they were wrong. It's bad for buisness, and makes Sony look better.

Why doesn't MS come out with full map packs on disk? Don't they just have to add 2 maps? They would make enough money to make it worthwhile it seems.

Microsoft doesn't look backwards in my opion. As soon as new technology comes out, Microsoft ditches the old and switches to the new. Then they drag the old population to the new, like what they did to make us upgrade to 360. I held out until 2009, when my original broke.

Also, it wouldn't make much of a profit. It would cost a few million to create the discs, mass produce them, then ship them to the world, but with so little loyal Halo 2 fans it wouldn't make a large initla porfit. It would cost to much just to create the extra 2 maps on disc. That's why they made Halo 2 pc.

Funny, because MS still supports XP. Oh wait, the Xbox 1 support lifecycle ran out in 09 (because nobody cares anymore), while all the people here are crazy.

Do you really want to end up with your number getting blocked by MS? Then don't waste your time on the phone complaning.

I feel sad for you. I wish I could just copy the maps, put it on a USB then give it to you.

I like Call of Duty and Gears of War, AND Halo. Why must everyone else like only one or the other?

Indeed. Makes me very glad I went the way of the Multiplayer Map Pack disc when it came out. At least I'll always have access to those 9 maps. Anyway, here is the thread I mentioned in the Halo Waypoint thread. And I just now noticed the post I was referring to about getting original xbox DLC without Live is gone. So, I'm guessing that it's not something Microsoft would like you doing to get the maps. Might be something that would get your gamertag and/or console banned.

If you didn't Play Halo: CE or Halo 2 MP, your opinion about Halo means nada.

CE + H2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> H3+Reach+H4

Same thing happened to me.

I went ot play H2 on XBC yesterday and noticed I had none of the DLC maps

Yeah, Hitboxing = fail. For example, a certan user from the maw who has never played Halo 2 Xbox online links to this halo 2 bash video (its much less exreme in acutial gameplay) which shows hitboxing, but it also exists in halo 3, which also has unbalanced weps and n00b armor (recon).

It happens to me sometimes. Usually restarting the console works fine. You could always pick up a cheap original Xbox and mod it.
