Hey Seventh Column,
So, I remember back when Xbox LIVE for the Original Xbox was being shut down there was several warnings to double check that you have your purchased DLC on your current console for your Original Xbox games as you won't be able to download it after LIVE is shut off for the Original Xbox.
I went online in Halo 2 to make sure I had all the map packs - no problems, they were all on my console and all worked fine both in online and offline play as I had redownloaded them on my 360 so that the license was there.
Great, that's done.
Now, however, when I load up Halo 2 and go into a multiplayer lobby (for offline play, obviously) and go to select a map, it tells me my "Downloaded Maps are corrupt or missing. Please redownload them."
I went to my System Settings and Memory and checked the Halo 2 save folder - all the map packs are there.
Hopefully now you can understand why I am frustrated - I went on before Xbox LIVE was shut off for Original Xbox and made sure I had all my maps - and now it says they are corrupt and I must redownload them... which is obviously not possible.
Here's the funny part. The reason they're corrupt? I had my console sent for repairs and got a new one back, and since it's not the same console the maps were downloaded on it says they are corrupt and have to be redownlaoded. The license transfer was done and all my 360 marketplace content has been transferred but obviously original Xbox content can't be redownloaded at this point. It's very frustrating and I feel like I have been robbed all of the money that I paid for them because it is Microsoft's fault that I lost them.
If anybody has any suggestions on how to get them working - I'm open. I've tried everything I can think of.
Thanks for any tips on how I can get the problem fixed - I appreciate any advice.
Cheers!
I've posted this both on BNET and Halo Waypoint in hopes that I can find some help!
EDIT:
What's also interesting is that the original Xbox LIVE servers seem to not have been shut off completely. I had recently cleared my Xbox 360 HDD cache - which wipes all system title updates from your console for all games - when I loaded Halo 2 up one day.
I selected my profile and then it prompted me to sign into LIVE as per usual - I selected my gamertag. Instead of saying 'connection troubles' or whatever like normal, it said 'An update is available for this game from Xbox LIVE.'
It then took me to the green original Xbox title update screen - downloaded and installed the update. When it booted up Halo 2 it had the updated version number in the corner. At this point, it said connection problems when connecting to LIVE. However, it shows that the original Xbox servers weren't completely shut down - so why won't it let us get our DLC content back if it lets us get title updates... especially that which we paid for!
