Subject: ODST 2? READ THE OP BEFORE COMMENTING!!!

Yeh, i know theres already a thread about this but i would like to get one of my ideas out there without people having to scroll through all the pages on a three legged goat's thread. Anyway heres my ideas for armour customization and a new team of ODST's plus i'd like to know what others think.

Armour Customization - Well, it would seem stupid to be able to change the ODST's helmet. But some Shoulders and Possibly some chest modifications, Helmet Modules like in Reach But In real Detail to replace the loss of Changing The Helmet Base, Like being able to place certain helmet modules where you want on the helmet. And lots of modules like extra armour plating and communication Headsets.
As i said aswell, shoulders should be fully interchangable just like in Reach, same for chest, knees and wrist ETC.

Story (team)
well, i reckon this makes a good team (they are a highly praised team of ODSTs with codenames, real names are classified

StarFire - leader - Liutenant
Born on Chi Ceti 4, very consistant, but a short temper due to a mental breakdown that occured during his first mission, a natural leader, not so good under pressure. loadout: silenced assault Rifle, Laser-designated-airstrike module

Jerome - Heavy weapons - warrant officer
Born On Harvest. Lived there all his life, one of the 36 recruits trained by seargant avery Johnson. has a personal vendetta against the covenant, surprisingly sensitive. Loadout - Rocket Launcher, grenade launcher or spartan lazer

Aurora - Stealth and recon - private
The only girl on the team, has a speech impedemant. But Can hear, very experienced but unwilling to be promoted. Loadout: silenced pistol and 10" combat knife, silenced SMG

Foxtrot - Sniper - Staff seargent
Born On Mars [Rest of file classified] African-American Origins
loadout: Sniper, Silenced DMR

Sparrow - Latest Recruit, engineer - Corporal
Earth-Born, Will not kill any living thing but will defend himself. Has a fond Knowledge of alien Weaponry and behaviour
loadout: Plasma Pistol, tactical tool kit

Zulu - The Player - Master Seargent
Very Chatty, Bad service record, ie. demotion due to assault of a UNSC Ship captain, Criminal record prior to the covenant war. Real Name is Jacob. Loadout: Battle rifle, SMG

Stinger - Pilot + Medic - 2nd Liutenant
Incredibly smart, and tactical. prefers Bigger, bulkier armour for more protection over mobility, slightly insecure.
Won't go into battle unless his ammo holsters are full.
Loadout: Plenty of Grenades, Assault Rifle, Shotgun, tactical trauma kit

This sig will Self-Destruct in 3.... 2.... 1.... Thank you for your time. Cookie?

Team =/= Story.

And while there is room for some expansion on the story, there isn't really much. Most of the major game-changing battles in the Human-Covenant War were done primarily by Spartans; the UNSC seldom won a major conflict due to the gap in technology and lack of knowledge of the Covenant at the time. I guess you could have more battles on Earth, but that would defeat the purpose of the VISR unless they were all night operations (which would get stale quickly).

Plus, you are aware that Bungie doesn't make Halo games anymore, right?

Team =/= Story.

But personality does. In ODST you could see the tension between Romeo and the squad, the love between Buck and Dare. The overall humanlike personalities of the squad.

What do we see in Reach? At the most Jorge and Halsey.

Yea, I get where you're goin', but It got kinda childish when you started listing down the codenames.

  • 04.04.2011 12:22 PM PDT

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Some constructive critizism:
Caps Lock = Thread Lock

The codenames are kinda corny. I'd lose them. Maybe replace them with more official ones.

StarFire is a natural leader, but not good under pressure and has a short temper. These qualities don't really match up.

I don't think a demoted, criminal would be a Master Sergeant.

Personalities seem very unoriginal. Sorta of resembles the ODST squad in H3:ODST.

It doesn't have to be major conflicts. It could be smaller conflicts. The story could just be smaller conflicts in wich you fight on different worlds throughout the Human-Covenant war.

And as for Bungie not making Halo games anymore, I am excited to see what 343 Industries has in store for the Halo franchise. They will probably add some new things.

I didnt read OP. But ODST sucked and your for an odst 2? = Sucked.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

I would love another game similar to ODST, and more customization of your soldier would be great.

As SEAL said, the names are pretty bad, and the qualities are contradictory at best and painfully cliche.

Your team is also pretty bad. Their specialties are either redundant or unrealistic.

A better team would look more like this:
Team leader: would use some stock weapons (ARs, BR/DMR type things). Would also have some way to communicate with superiors (radio).

Heavy Weapons: Rockets and the like.

Designated Marksman: Would use a Sniper Rifle for the game, but having someone designated for recon is odd, an ODST squad would like to stick together, but can split up if need be. There wouldn't be one man for recon, since the whole squad is capable. Snipers have the same problem of the one lone wolf, not in a squad.

Tech specialist: Would be able to work with all kinds of vehicles, fly, drive or anything else. Would have normal UNSC weapons, the UNSC doesn't issue plasma pistols.

Others as necessary: Regular soldiers without such special jobs. All ODSTs are able to perform all of the duties, but the specialists are just the ones assigned to perform them. All are trained medics.

As far as weapons go you have to much redundancy. You don't need a BR and a DMR. If there is a silenced version of a weapon there is no need for a loud one.

Think before you post

I kinda like your team personally, though this isnt so much an idea for ODST as it is an idea for a team, one member i think youre missing is an automatic rifleman, who uses the assualt rifle, automag, human turret and pretty much any automatic weapons, including spiker, plasma rifles, etc. he could provide suppressive fire and operate vehicle turrets as well. There should also be a breacher unit who charges and breaks enemy lines and clears buildings with a shotgun and assualt rifle. I definitly like how you included the target locator with the leader, after all, the team captains are the ones who should call in the air strikes, though i dont really approve of his name, ever watched teen titans? Maybe he could just go by sarge. I dont think the pilot should be the medic, how is the guy flying in the sky supposed to help anyone out? I think your team leader should be the medic to show his true care for the team, and instead of having a pilot and an engineer, why not just combine them into a vehicle specialist? With just a plasma pistol and pistol, maybe some tools for repairing vehicles

how about ODST 2 being a prequal to the first one? It would be awesome if you rotated between the different members of the squad as they fight in different battles as they eventually meet up as one squad. It could also show what happened between Buck and Dare.

And Sgt. Johnson could be in it too!

My pockets smell like sour and gunpowder.

How about odst being something people would want, a halo mixed with cod.

i know bungie doesnt own the rights to halo but what about odst??

a type of gritty odst based story, kinda like cod4 campaign... new guy, older mentor, and a bunch of crazy missions??

that is a game i would buy.

heres loads of my ideas from my thread on odst 2 thread

NEW MULTIPLAYER MODES:

Secure the civilians:
Secure the civilians is a gamemode where you haft to get all of the civilians to the transport(Pelican) and elites or brutes or both haft to stop you from getting them to the transport veicle.

New kind of infection:
instead of just eing your guy infected why dont we use flood as infected guys.

3 Team death match: is flood against elites against spartans
if 16 player 4 aside if 32 players 8 aside :).

FETURES:

Fullly armor custimization
oviously like halo 3 and reach but you can put flames across your armor or legendery symbol on you chest ect.

customizable elites, brutes and flood.

NEW ARMOR ABLITIES:

Instead of halo reach where you select or pick armor abilities up you buy abilities so you get sprint or evade as default and you haft to buy stuff like overshield, camo, ect.

STORY MODE:

you could be on a diffrent planet, halo ring, reach, and you haft to like disarm bomb and secure a place rescue soldiers ect.

FORGE:

you could start off with a plain map and you could select like a rain forest, city, blood gultch ect.

WEAPONS, EXPLOSIVES, ASSASINATIONS:

bring back dual wielding.
Buy your own ASSASINATIONS.
all weapons from ODST, HALO 3, HALO REACH.
BRING TRIP MINE BACK!!!

FIREFIGHT:

could have flood attack and elites defend against
and the same firefight as halo reach so you can set up how ever you want ur firefight game.

Well, the characters here aren't what i would like to call "original", many of them seem to just be... heavily inspired by previous characters. E.G, Aurora. Stinks a lot like Kat... only girl, stealth specialist.

Also, i have massive quarels about being "zulu". For one, "chatty" doesn't sit well with me. The whole idea of a player character to me is that i get immersed into the character. Having his voice yammer on and on wont help. At all.

Beyond that though, sounds good. I like that you have covered a larger range of roles in the squad, and given them unique aspects (speech impedement was a strange but nice touch), and given them all interesting personalities and histories (apart from foxtrot).

Just a bit of buff on the characters, and either change or add an entirely new "blank" player character, and that sounds damn fine.

The team is a good idea but completly impracticle in an ODST team. You can do without the code name.

Starfire- If he is a good leader then he can not have mental break downs. Mental break downs= death to team.

Jerome- good

Aurora- people with speech impedaments are not needed in an ODST team. Strong communication is needed for the success of the mission. I like the idea of a girl though.

Foxtrot- good

Sparrow- Why would someone who only kills in self defense be in the ODSTs? What happens if he is not in danger but one of his team mates is?

Zulu- Sounds like a true ODST

Stinger- If he is a medic, has alot of ammo, AND wears bulky armor; how does he move/fit in his drop pod?

Hope im not too rough. Just pointing out possible flaws.

rule of thumb: double tap

charecter idea's: meh

is i said before, all we need is new story, some new weps (as in a nade launcher that isnt terrible) and a compelling story
