Some of the radio transmissions in Halo: Reach's multiplayer maps contain some captured audio snippets of Red Team's missions on reach. :)

Are you mad that Certain Affinity and 343i captured more of what Reach was really like in a single map pack than your whole campaign?

What the heck are you talking about, Sniper O_o The Defiant Map Pack doesn't bring up anything new to the canon so how the hell does it "capture more of what Reach was really like"? And it was made by Certain Affinity, not 343, they only distributed it and that's all. And Unearthed, if it has a radio conversation, doesn't figure into the ones about Red Team. I think you're just being overly butt hurt that Reach "messed up" the very bare bones and underdeveloped account of the Battle of Reach in TFoR.

What are you talking about, Coma? I'm saying that the Defiant Map Pack represents more of what Reach was like than Bungie's entire campaign. All they did was break canon and brought about a completely half-assed, crappy story along with it.

And I think that comment is just silly, the maps add nothing at all to the story in any significant way, they are merely places from the book, that doesn't really mean anything. And besides which, TFoR showed us almost nothing about the battle, all it showed was the space battle, and Reach didn't even touch that subject matter.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Instead however we get a half-arsed story about a team of spartan IIIs that shouldn't exist and do things that are generally mundane, boring and pathetic for a Spartan.

Stories are told of Heroes, not of those guys over there that -blam!- about for a month or so and got killed.

Noble Team only investigated a downed relay and fought off a team of Elite zealots, lead a charge against a Covenant battle group, took out a Supercarrier, lead evacuations, and allowed the events of Halo: CE to occur.

The point is, Halo Reach did not show the viewpoint of the book. The book showed a very specific viewpoint.

I'm sorry, but you're going to have to rephrase that, I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Too bad Beta team got raped by MAC shots along with the three cruisers that were nearby.

  • 04.06.2011 7:39 PM PDT

Also, don't forget to mention that on roughly half of the campaign missions, you are tasked with either turning on or turning off (destroying) AA guns. It felt like a Tower Defense game than an epic defense.

Also, considering that this is suppossed to be the story of how reach fell, I don't understand why the very important Super MAC gun generators weren't on the list for Noble team, considering that it was the single most strategic part of Reach's defense.

You know, no biggie.

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

I agree, Bungie should of followed the book more closely - who actually cared about the rag tag bunch of cliched nobodies (apart from Jorge) that were Noble Team ?

I would of thought the last level should of been a fight to the death (like Lone Wolf) but infront of the MAC generators, with dozens of allies

But as the chap above says all we got was "AA gun needs switching off" why didn't they just MAC round them into next week from orbit ?

Halo: Reach is like my pair of pants - full of holes and nobody wants to touch it

"What do you hear?"
"Nothing but the rain."
"Then grab your gun and bring in the cat."
"Boom, boom, boom!"

The story of Reach was in the bible sinse at least Halo 3 ODST era,as the memorial at ONI alpha site says the fight on Reach begun on the 26th of June.

Then that was one long and drawn out invasion if it started that early. ;)

Watch Red vs Blue, it has a tonne of info on Red team.

Not the Red Team that's being discussed.

And somehow Bungie still managed to make it boring and dissapointing.
Halo: Generic sci-fi shooter would be a more appropriate name. Not a bad game in itself, but a -blam!- halo story.

Yeah BUT! Beta company was the largest Spartan branch, that's why they were the most badass, because they were just too many, and probably wiped out.

Uh huh... Are you mad that Halo Reach didn't show you The fall of Reach exactly and gave you a different viewpoint?

Yep, I am. Considering they barely showed anything of The Fall of Reach and put in some bulls*it story to make it even worse.

I thought the story they created enhanced the fall of Reach and made the overall Halo universe richer. Keep your negative opinion to yourself if you're gonna be so childish and aggressive with it

and yes I have read the books, and I like Halo Reach's story better so I don't care if it conflicts

You are so annoying dude. It's fine if you didn't like the story but stating your opinion as an outright fact is rather stupid of you
