Subject: Time Span between Long Night of Solace and Exodus

On Long Night of Solace, Operation UPPERCUT was initiated on August 14th. After Long Night of Solace, Noble 6 crashes back on Reach and then it skips to a cutscene with Noble 6 looking down at New Alexandria getting assaulted. This takes place on August 23rd...So, my question is...was Noble 6 wondering around Reach for about 9 days? Why didn't he radio for pickup? This is just one of those things that's bugging me.

Trust me, I made a whole thread on this, want to see it? Here.

Looking at the Campaign, plenty of the campaign missions had gaps in their mission dates, which are listed below, what happened between those dates?

Winter Contingency - July 24, 2552
ONI: Sword Base - July 26, 2552
Nightfall - August 11, 2552 <-- Big gap in the story
Tip of the Spear - August 12, 2552
Long Night of Solace - August 14, 2552
Exodus - August 23, 2552 <-- How does this even make sense?
New Alexandria - August 23, 2552
The Package - August 29, 2552
The Pillar of Autumn - August 30, 2552 - 16:52
Lone Wolf - August 30, 2552 - 20:00

If you look at the dates, there were gaps in between

ONI: Sword Base - Nightfall (MASSIVE GAP 16 DAYS)
Long Night of Solace - Exodus (MASSIVE GAP 9 DAYS)
New Alexandria - The Package (Big Gap 6 DAYS)

What could have happened between ONI: Sword Base and Nightfall?
What could have happened between Long Night of Solace and Exodus?
What could have happened between New Alexandria and The Package?

Knowing the story, after ONI, they were told to find out what the Covenant were up to, which leads up to Nightfall. They had to wait 15 days before they could decide to infiltrate the Covenant camps?

The most curious is between Long Night of Solace and Exodus, How on earth could Noble 6 have been missing for 9 days? That's all I have to say about that.

Finally is New Alexandria and the Package, After New Alexandria, you were told to do the torch and burn op, so Noble team decided to fret over Kat's death and wait 6 days, in all that time, the Covenant could have gotten all the information they wanted from Sword Base, I just don't understand this...

If someone could explain these gaps please feel free to, I've put some time into this guys, don't put me down with fairly short answers, I want to see what you guys could think happened between these dates.

After reading the comments on mine, think of it as if you landed on one side of the planet and ended up walking 9 days, injured all the way to New Alexandria. That's all I could get out of the comments. Although Between ONI Sword base and Nightfall, there is a gap over 16 days! Why?

The one I don't understand is New Alexandria. So their orders were to Purge ONI's information, but they ended up waiting 6 days? In all that time, the Covenant could have done all they wanted in the base. From the comments, they made jokes saying Carter was butthurt over Kat's death. But in all honesty, I have no idea why they waited 6 days...

Possibly Bungie cut missions inbetween those dates, and forgot to edit the dates in the cutscenes in the missions they decided to keep in the game.

But it is strange, and that would be a rather big oversight.

Yeah, the LNoS to Exodus is a stretch, but it makes sense in a way. Like he said, he could have been walking all that time, but i find it hard to believe that he hadn't stumbled upon anyone else human and covenant alike.

The ONI to Nightfall makes absolutely no sense. The covenant would have decimated the planet in 16 days. Especially if their camps were hidden for that long. Its a wonder there was anyone left to fight during Tip of The Spear. lol.

I'm sure a lot of people would say that its just the time en route to the mission, but this is Halo. Its the 26th century. It takes less than 16 days to travel between star systems, I find it hard to believe that it took that long to find the covenant camps.

A: ONI to Nightfall probably had elements scouting and trying to find the Covenant camps. The Covenant in that timeframe did very little, they weren't charging around blowing everything up.
B:LNOS to Exodus. The battle has started, and Six was walking all that way. Since he was moving through wilderness it makes sense he didn't randomly stumble into anybody. If he did call in for a ride, it was probably drowned out by combat chatter and frontlines requests.
C: NA to Package. The first three days was spent in a bunker, WHILE THE CITY WAS BEING GLASSED. Aka, they couldn't leave without being melted into nothing. Other three days? 1: going back to base to rearm? 2: Organizing a plan to get there and get in. 3: transport.

Edit: Didn't read your final statement. To reply to that, if the Covenant camps are hidden from sensors(Which it was), they'd have to do it manually. Aka, they'd have to search the planet entirely.

Cmdr DaeFaron's explanation is probably as good as we can get on understanding what happened. I didn't even think about the ONI to Nightfall...that gap is probably the weirdest. I also like the explanation of Bungie cutting levels and maybe forgetting to alter the dates, but I guess we can all guess-timate for now

It's called they're gonna fill up the gaps through books.

That time has long passed, and if they didn't do a book on halo 2 0r 3 (which i would have loved) they aren't going to re-write a book based on an alternate version of reach.

52,000 kills in Halo 2 and more legendary playthroughs in CE than you can imagine. I am truly a God.

DLC which told that story would make me very happy.

DLC is not possible, go look in one of the most popular reach topics, they explain armor, DLC's and such cannot be added.
