and yes apart from the 5 star general, the enlisted and officer ranks are the same.

Department of Navy. Not a branch of the Navy. Coast Guard falls under the Department of the Navy during war time.
I would go into further detail, but I'm not up to it. But if you feel the need, go ahead and compare the difference.
Sister services aren't the same as Master-Servant services.
Oh ok. So you're comparing the Marines to the Coast Guard? Yeah, I guess I could see that. Thanks for clearing that up. I realize that Branch was not the best term to use. but the Marines were formed out of the Navy is basically what I'm saying. Besides, I was merely saying that to prove the point as to why the MP ranking system didn't have Naval ranks.
