It's no secret that Bungie started work on their new IP prior to shipping Reach. Given this, I don't think it's a stretch to assume that the game will release some point in 2012. So, do you think we'll get some kind of tease this E3, like a CGI trailer or something else?

Bungie historically likes to keep their games as secret as possible, but we all know they love building hype as well. Personally, I think we'll see something for sure.

Oh yeah, I totally didn't even think about 343.

Since Bungie and Mass Effect went multiplatform I've shifted most of my focus to my PS3, so the thought of Halo 4 and/or the Halo CE remake totally slipped my mind.

Personally, I'm super excited. Bungie's likely going all out on this one because their trying to start up a new super franchise. There's a good chance it'll be their best work yet.

This is just a thought of mine, but seeing how Bungie always jokes about being bent on world domination, it wouldn't surprise me if this next title was the first ever that allowed cross-platform competitive play between consoles, much like Valve is doing with co-op in Portal 2. It's just an idea, but man would that be a game changer.

I totally agreed, Microsoft loose excellent titles, and now Sony make the difference (TLG,Uncharted, and many other exclusive from their studios) but i always love the Xbox community better than the Ps. I hope this will be their best work on these platform in term of story/universe and performance...

I don't know for this particular thing, but Microsoft has a special approach to this kind of thing. Xboxlive can't let you play crossplatform with a PC while PS3 can with FFXI and other games (maybe Dust 451)... I don't understand Microsoft their main activity is...PC

Well, you raise a good point. In the example of Valve, Sony decided to let them have a little bit of freedom to put some core components of Steam onto the network. That way, cross-platform play is handled by your Steam account because it's available on multiple platforms.

Microsoft didn't feel comfortable with this because they want to protect Live as a brand and they didn't want Steam evolving into something that would overthrow the marketplace. Technically speaking though, all that's necessary to make it happen would be a unified Bungie ID that you could sign in to from Live or PSN.

Bungie (at this point) doesn't pose any threat to the digital download market offered by either console, so maybe MS would be more likely to accept this proposal if it were to happen. I don't think Sony would have a problem with it, considering the Steam move and all.

Basically, I don't expect this to happen, but it certainly isn't impossible. As a matter of fact, it's downright likely to happen eventually. The necessities are already there, as proven by Valve. They just have to find something agreeable, and it could happen. It certainly would bring a whole new meaning to console multiplayer, and you would have a large, unified community. Bungie is as good a developer as any to lead the pack, if it's something they are interested in.

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

I am looking forward to 343i and CA pumping new life into Halo, the last installment (Reach) was a bit of a let down...bit like a party that goes on for too long...everyone gets tired and grumpy...

In saying that I am more looking forward to Mass Effect 3 - now that's how to write an engrossing story
