Thanks for Team Snipers Bungie.
Mythic Member, Legendary Member and back and forth. i just can't make up my mind!
Campaign - Halo C.E.>Halo 2>Halo 3
Multiplayer - Halo 2>Halo 3>Halo C.E.
Just about every thing I post is my opinion and nothing more. Be subjective. Respect other's opinions. Try to understand other's point of view.

Linkage

Ultimately the core game mechanics and the strength of the universe doesn't need to be changed, it just needs to be taken deeper. We want to make Halo games, we don't want to make Call of Duty or Ridge Racer. We want to make Halo games because we understand what's special about Halo.

...the next Halo game is going to contain improvements. Some of them are going to be dramatic innovations while others will be slight tweaks. you've got to say "What can we do to make this better?" it doesn't matter if that is a giant innovation or a small tweak, you've got to do it all over the board.
I know I'm just being optimistic but I hope they go back to Halo's roots from C.E. and 2.

The last couple of Halo games were made more for little kids than anyone else. The game play and maps are designed to push people just to rush every where with no real strategy and to level out the skill factor. I miss the the days where map control and skill level both played important roles in the game. It never bothered me that there were people a lot better than me. That's what the ranking system was for.

That being said who knows exactly what Frankie really meant besides the people at 343.

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

I agree OP - for me Halo: CE is still the best of the series

...and before you whack me - my rose tinted glasses are well and truly off

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

OT: I'm actually exited after reading this.
I was skeptical at first with 343 because I always imagined them to cash in on the halo franchise by bringing out a new halo game without innovations every year.

I still wonder how 343 is going to make a deep story when most of the halo universe is explored. (Maybe a pre-covenant spartan game or a game about the grunt rebellion?)

To be honest it think the ancient forerunners created this "Mantle" which nobody knows what it really is.

And i doubt you could ever truly stop the flood..

Yea,but the galaxy has to stop them.Maybe we will find a way in Halo 4 to kill the gravemind with the help of the Forerunners, maybe some Precursor tech hunt in another galaxy :)

  • 04.05.2011 9:46 AM PDT

I'm not quite sure why people think Forerunners would magically return...

Though, the gravemind was destroyed by alpha halo (2) firing. The problem is another will simply form when enough biomass is gathered by the flood.

My reasons for that is because of the legendary planet,it's clearly a Forerunner planet. And MB says he sends the chief to the forerunners.

And the beginning of Cryptum is another large proof that the Forerunners are alive as Born/Didact are telling the story of the trilogy.

I have my hopes of them making an epic appearance in Halo 4 :)

As far as story goes you could go so many different directions it's almost unthinkable. Just a few examples are:

1. The chief and Cortana arrive at a Forerunner planet.
2. The chief and Cortana arrive at a new, yet to be soon alien world.
3. The chief and Cortana arrive at human world in another galaxy because humans were split up long, long ago.
4. Continue the story of GoO. ( I would love this but I guess the average video game fan probably would be a little lost.)

As far as the Flood goes who knows if they are gone or still hold out on other shield worlds, galaxies, etc...

But to be honest I'm still looking forward to another Halo game. I loved C.E. and I think Halo 2 is the best MP fighting game of all time. Every thing from the maps to the weapons were phenomenal. Remember when it use to be worth it to Dual Wield? Remember when you had to try to control the rockets? Sniper? Invisibility? Now you just run and shoot.

I would like to see a game with no gimmicks. IT started in 3 with the use of equipment. Reach and the AA's to me just aren't that good. Don't even get me started on the Bloom. Let's take all of the skill out of the game.

It isn't a doubt that the forerunners are alive is it is realistically hard to truly wipe out an entire race. But the reasons for them coming back for no true reason wouldn't be a good idea. though you are correct on the fact MB sends chief to the forerunners, a fact that he knew there location post-war is interesting..

i love playing halo! and i would love being a bungie beta tester but my biggest dream would be working with bungie to make new kick ass video games!

if 343i can deliver an awesome campaign with depth and major engaging going on then where in good hands. Multiplayer we can do with out armor abilitys.

His consiousness is still there,he is just waiting for new Flood forms to respawn ;)

A Halo ring couldn't kill the prisoner, that's already enough evidence a ring can't touch the gravemind

Well, if in cryptum the forerunner is telling the story after the flood war, then yeah...

Though in the Forerunners case, wiping out all intelligent life in the galaxy would do it. I mean even now the Prophets are pretty much extinct, maybe thousand+.

Though yeah, Bias does say he is sending chief to his creators. Maybe it's the Forerunner capital and he doesn't realize the Forerunners are gone? Or the capital doubled as a shield world.

But yes, just going "Forerunners are back and they are awesome." would annoy me at least, piss me off at best. If they come back/reveal themselves from any havens they made, it has to be for good reason.

Didact/Born reenters a Cryptum after the shameful use of the array...Master Chief finds the Cryptum on the legendary planet.

Would love to see that

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

I trust Frankie. He was around for the glory days of Halo 2 so he knows what works and what doesn't. Looks hopeful, though.

  • 04.05.2011 1:48 PM PDT

Would you like the treatment?

Im hoping it's reach. The covenant was looking for something, i hope we find it.

  • 04.05.2011 2:15 PM PDT

Got Milk?

I think everyone should remember - Microsoft are out to milk the -blam!-e out of the Halo franchise. Having said that, it doesn't mean 343i won't make a good game. Don't judge it until it's actually out.

  • 04.05.2011 2:44 PM PDT

maybe the Forerunner return to take out the Flood once and for all, correct their sins, so maybe they come back to repent.

another possible outcome involving the return of the Forerunner, something that happens on the legendary planet gets their attention, and a 'recon' is sent to investigate it.

once hit my mate with a mad idea of 'wouldn't it be cool if Earth was a shield world, and the Forerunner were living beneath our feet all this time...', needless to say since he has no imagination he shunned the comment...! :-D

Yea bungie confirmed it wasn't reach years ago, to be honest you could look at the area and planet and tell it isn't reach.

Though i do beileve that reach could be a shield world

Especially with that shield world symbol on Breakpoint.

I've always been pretty skeptical about 343i's creation. I figured it would just end up as a way for Microsoft to milk the Halo universe, but this gave me a little bit of hope. The HU still has a lot of good stories to tell and hopefully 343 can do it right.

It's not so much a matter of trust with Frankie, Microsoft or Bungie. They are in this to make a living. Hopefully a very good living. I don't hate Bungie for the direction they took the Halo games. Parents and teenagers buy a lot more video games than adults do for their own use.

The only hope now is that they are getting such a backlash that 343 uses the anti-sentiment to sell an "old school" Halo game. Market it as going back to the basics. Kind of could be the anti-Modern Warfare.

Bungie is out to make money also. It's business. That doesn't mean that both companies don't want to make a good game but they are going to make a game that sells as many copies as possible and that brings in other revenues.
