Subject: Canonical strength of a Spartan

My Grandfather was a Desert Ranger, my Father was a Veteran Ranger in the NCR. My father was killed by Caesar's Legion and they took my Brother. It's now my responsibility to uphold the mantle of the Rangers and avenge my Father and find my Brother.

I have a few questions about canonical Spartans. I've heard that they can withstand Wraith mortars, from them barely being able to stand a few Plasma bolts.

1. How strong are they? How much could they lift? How hard could they punch?

2. How strong and resilient is the armor? With shields? Without shields?

3. How fast can Spartans move or run? How far or high can they jump?

4. How smart is the average Spartan? Problem-solving skills?

5. What are they willing to risk or do? Do they risk the mission to ensure the safety of their team, or risk themselves to make sure the mission is completed?

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Play on Heroic difficulty, and you'll know how much damage they can resist.
Play on Easy difficulty, and you'll know how fast they can kill.

let's just say, other than respawning, shield strength and health regeneration, they perform much better canonically.

  • 04.05.2011 6:35 PM PDT

1. They can lift three times their body weight. Their weight can vary so we can't really get a true factor, not sure if this was with the Armor or without.

Punching is something else. They can break bones with a simple punch. John managed to kill a Brute with his bare hands. Cal managed to block a Gravity Hammer with a single hand, it's fair to say they are incredibly strong.

2. The Mark VI variant could withstand several plasma based bolts. It has a much faster recharge shield rate than the previous Mark V variant. Without shields, it will have acompromise the armor plating within a few plasma shots.

3. Spartans could run at a speed of 34 Miles per hour, although Kelly could run up to 38 Miles per hour. It gets even better. John managed to run up to 65 Miles per hour in his training exercise, although he tore his Achilles tendon.

4. Spartans are given the basic education under Deja although it's fair to say they were given a much broader education with their technical strategies on the battle field.

5. Spartans III are willing to risk everything for nothing, they are suicide Spartans that will not stop until the objective is complete. Although the Spartan II's are a different story and are sent on missions with top priority with nothing but victory in their minds.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

0x0 x0x 0x0 000 000 x0x 000
x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

2) Their shields will fall if a wraith shot hits ten meters away (remember the canonical wraith is much more dangerous than the ones in games.

3) With MJOLNIR they can run incredibly fast, but it varies by Spartan. Kelly (the fastest) could run at 62 kilometers per hour (38.5 mph).

4) The average Spartan has in IQ well above 160, often above 170 (an IQ above 140 is the top .25% of the human race). Their problem solving skills are no doubt extraordinary.

5) Read any account of the actions of the Spartans, they put themselves in countless missions that seem impossible. The Spartan IIIs went on literal suicide missions.

Barely a few plasma Bolts is more accurate. A plasma pistol was able to melt and breach Sam's suit above Chi Ceti. Whoever said that they can survive a Wraith Mortar must have been stoned - a mortar shot would just...there would not even be anything left basically.

...

3. How fast can Spartans move or run? How far or high can they jump?

Without Mjolnir:

~ Can lift 3 times their own body weight.
~ Have a reaction time of 20 milliseconds, which can get faster under adrenaline.
~ Can run in bursts of up to 55 kilometres per hour.

With Mjolnir:

~ Their strength gets doubled. Also, John was able to lift a 200 kilogram arc welder with one hand.
~ Their reaction time decreases by a factor of 5.
~ They can leap over 3 metre barriers easily.
~ Smash concrete targets by punching them and sink combat knives hilt deep into targets by throwing them.

Wow, someone should set up a race gametype so we can get the speed of the spartans correct and create the first ever canon gametype.

This is true, but that was before the Mark V armor (that you get at the start of Halo CE). Sam had no energy shields to protect him.

Yeah, I am forgetting.

Sam would probably have survived if he had shields. More than a few plasma shots then.

Let's not forget that he didn't tear his Achilles tendon until after he deflected the anti-tank missile fired from the Skyhawk jet.

In the Fall of Reach, Linda was killed by three plasma pistol shots. You know, those small green things you eat like cereal on Legendary.

Actually it was more like a plasma rain, lol.

She found the bay and assisted Staff Sergeant Johnson's squad in holding off the Covenant forces long enough to escape. However, as they jumped out of their Pelican to open the bay doors, she was hit by several overcharged bolts from Plasma Pistols and Plasma Rifles which penetrated her armor and flesh all the way to the carbonized bone. One of the globules of plasma hit her in the back of the skull.

It was really fast according to the book, but it doesn't matter, she was revived after all xD

Read any more of the books further into the series?

True ^

Ackerson had probably one of the most gruesome deaths.

The average Spartan weighs twice as much as a regular person, and they can lift around three times their weight.

Say the average weight for a man is 180. They'd weigh 360, and be capable of benching just over 1000 pounds. Mjolnir doubles that, I believe.
