We, as a whole, forced this game out of Bungie because of our intemperance for waiting for a sequel. While I fully believe that ODST is of the caliber that Bungie intended, I personally feel that this effort may be the last oomph that Reach was missing. These development hours may have been better spent on fully developing the fully release title. Furthermore, I fully believe that ODST failed in its one goal, not being a successful game, for it was quite a hit and a fully competent game, but rather to hold us over until Reach. Truly, no matter the quality of a campaign, a mere Halo campaign simply does not last a community for more than a scant few weeks. Surely development was more than that. This is why I firmly believe that ODST was a valiant effort that I am grateful for, but on the whole, may have been a mistake.
I hold no illusion that this thread will be read. I write this merely for my own gain. I do hope that one, just one, of you reads this, even if your opinion varies greatly from my own, not to give you any information, but to simply have my existence validated by another sentient being. This desire is based in a human futility, that while I fully acknowledge, I can by intrinsic nature, never understand. It is by its nature purposeless, goalless, and reasonless. It is also the reason Humanity continues to toil on into the future, no matter how bleak. This utter redundancy and complete necessity is what fascinates me so, and this fascination is self propagating, for the very capacity for fascination is a facet of the human psyche that fascinates me so.
This examination of human perception, of course, call forth an intrest in human existence. As stated, humans are quite purposeless, and self-impose reason, subconsciously. This drives us forward. This is known, and accepted. Human existence is futile. One might say it is denial that keeps us going, but another might say it is the human spirit. Truly it is a facet of the self determination, previously discussed. This might point towards the conclusion that human existence is to exist. Yet, this is refuted as the human determination is not satisfied to exist. It wants to discover. To create. To change. To make a difference, in the indifferent world. These thing fulfill its vague definition of success.
This success is often quantified by materials, but one cannot say that the philosophers of old and of the current are unfulfilled, but they often are financially unremarkable, or as is too often the case, deficient. This begs the question, why become obsessed with material wealth, as so many of us have? To that I respond "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air." I whistled for a cab and when it came near The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare, but I thought, "Nah, forget it. Yo, holmes to Bel-Air!" I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8 and I yelled to the cabbie, "Yo holmes smell ya later!" Looked at my kingdom I was finally there, to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-Air.
