Which number is Greater? 1 or 1?

There both key telling points of the Haloverse, both strong contributers, and to say one has priority over the other because its format makes no sense

Even if they dont fit perfectly side by side, most aspects in history dont either. many documents have inconsistancies with others for lets say... WW2, but we still know what happened, The Good Guys won!

And even for those plot holes, Any good storyteller can turn around and fill the gaps, even a simple "A Wizard did it"

the fact that you said that "The Good Guys won" destroys any legitimacy of your arguement

Little attempt of Humour... Suppose it wasnt well thought out :P

Don't worry, you only did what Eric Nylund did in The Fall of Reach, just substitute a Wizard with an overwhelming fleet of Covenant ships and congrats, you're every fanboys favorite author.

Nope. I'm not a fanboy just because the game breaches the previously established canon created by the book.

Typical Reach fanboy.

Cannon's, of course, we're launching the books and the game from a cannon, and which one flys furthest official takes its place in haloverse lore c:

It is pretty stupid to say Games>Books since Master chief can only jump 2 feet when he should be able to jump two stories easy. Along with the fact that he walks everywhere instead of running.

Gameplay issues and fan influnce over the story are why people accurately claim that the books are "more canon" than the games because the are for the most part. It is clear to say the Halo: Reach was more of a Fan game than an "actual" halo game due to the branching off of the storyline.

If you read Fall of reach, and you perfer that, thats priority canon

If you didnt and just played the games, thats canon

Um, no, whoever told you that was grossly misinformed, Bungie's canon policy is on the issue of conflicts between information in the books and the games, the games take priority and override what the book(s) say, and also new information supersedes old as well according to canon policy.

I understand and would agree, but as long as people keep claiming the Games to be the "main source" i have to point at the books. but to be honest the issue didn't really start until reach came out.

And who says they both can't exist? The events portrayed in the book can still occur. At worst, the context in which they happen changes. So some thinking is needed, but I don't remember when speculation became a bad thing.

to be honest the book halo reach and the game halo reach both can't happen at the same time.

In the game the PoA is on reach for whatever reason and waiting for a cortana fragment.

In the book PoA was nearly out of the system when the covenant attacked and cortana was on board along with the chief who wasn't in cryo.

In the game Reach didn't have a fleet whatsoever and ships had to be recalled from other systems.

In the book reach had a fleet of roughly 100-130 ships and dozens of orbiting support stations (non macs)

In the game reach has no Fleet, no MACS (don't give me that we didn't see them BS), no orbital stations of anytype, and called for other ships to come to the system for help.

In all honesty it is ether the book or the game with this one. and yes i know kat said something about the Macs, but we didn't say any on ether side of the planet.

Im sure the "they were on the other side" would be there "a wizard did it"

Besides, sometimes minor plots devices can be added to a singular plot, i cant think of a good example, but one'll come to me soon so watch this space :p (though dont bother if its been 20 minutes, its 1am here and i was up at 7 >w<)

Who says they didn't go just enough to be out of sight of the anchor 9 area?

Maybe they were on the other side? Cop out I know, but it may be the case. I also remember Dot mentioning orbital defenses were offline. So even if we saw them, they'd be useless. From the looks of it, the Long Night of Solace kept away from the SMACs and managed to fend off any ships that came along. Looks like it was effective if all the damaged ships at Anchor 9 are anythign to go by.

However, I admit Bungie could've beefed up the naval presence.

I really don't want to sound like an ass, but if you actually watched the cinimatic you clearly see them going into space (which gives you a wide view) and you see no MACS.

Then playing the first half of LNoS you see no orbital stations in ether direction of the planet and this is the side that doesn't have heavy covenant presence.

The secound half of the mission you clearly see the ships go to the other side of the planet deemed covenant controlled and you see nothing, again.

Not to come off as a dick but i am just upset at the fact there were no macs whatsoever

Game Canon > Book Canon.

Not when the books is more enjoyable than the game.

Book > Game.

What does that has to do with Canon? Seriously, Bungie/343i's word is over the word of any author of the Halo novels, if it's made directly by Bungie/343i then it overrides the other Canon.

It's just like Star Wars, G canon (Movies) override Book and game canon.

See, but that's the controversial part. The Halo Novels are Bungie/343's word. they created the Halo Bible which was the basis for all the canon introduced by the books. they sent the Halo Bible out to the authors to keep the stories correct.

So its one thing to say that authors, who wrote their own take on the story, created the original canon. Its completely different when Bungie and Bungie alone created the original canon of the novels, then completely changed it with Reach. The latter is how it happened.

I'm more than willing to accept Halo: Reach as canon. I did not enjoy reading TFoR.
