Can you be banned or have your thread locked for having an arguement, which is on topic, and is productive? Such as this?

I was just interested as it's getting quite 'steamy' with both sides trying to argue across their point.

Thanks in advance. (Sorry if I don't respond as I usually do, I might be sleeping).

dude, you pulled a jesus!

That's borderline, in my opinion... getting a little too heated of an arguement... though I admit I didn't read the entire arguement.

shhhhhhh

I didn't see that thread, but i'm guessing maybe he started to flame a bit, or maybe he was banned for a completely different thread, I don't know.

Ok, I'm not talking about the top guy, he was never in the arguement. I'm talking about me, kreebs (sp?) and maybe the odd passer-by.

Only the paranoid will survive!

I say as long as it stays civil then fine. But it's not up to me =P. I even contributed my own opinion.

Yay!

Arguments are great if they are excuted with mature thoughts and statements. I think arguing is a key to any forum because its a way for more than just the parties involved to digest the opinions of the people posting.

Arguing is fine, but if it comes down to borderline spam and name calling, then it's not good. If you're actually debating something... well, isn't that what forums are about?

To answer the question; yes you can be blacklisted for taking an argument a little too far. But this is up to the Moderator who finds the thread in question. Most often or not depending on the involvement of people and the insults used can either result in members being blacklisted or the thread being locked and warnings being issues to said users. We won't blacklist you for having an opinion on Bungie.net but we can and will blacklist you if you choose to represent that opinion poorly and stoop to the level of childish insults to win an argument.
