Ok, is it just me, or does the SMG in ODST shoot rounds made of Play-Do, it takes about two full clips just to get a brute's shields down, and another to kill it.

I respect the silencer as a cool addition and the zoom/red dot sight as a pretty cool addition as well, but the recoil negates the zoom pretty quickly with the rise.

Whenever I play Mombasa Streets, i always get myself a Carbine and a sniper/shotgun/whatever i can find from the SI caches.

Being a suppressed weapon its highly likely the SMG is using subsonic ammunition as opposed to the halo 3 SMG which has no need to keep the bullet velocity down. Also the suppressor itself scrubs some energy off bullets. This perfectly explains why the ODST SMG is so much weaker than in halo 3.

This is the perfectly logical explination. Another idea I always thought of was that Bungie wanted the ODST's to feel weaker than Master Chief, and therefor made the weapons feel a bit less stronger.

Its stronger than in H3, its the brutes shields that has gotten a buff

SMGs with silencers are weak long range. You may wanna short burst them. Also, it takes a while to take down a brute because of their shields.
