Subject: Your Spartan's "Story"

While browsing B.net, I came across a thread where a guy was complaining "OMG!! Y DO YOU HAZ ROBOT ARM?!". Several people responded by saying "It's part of my Spartan's 'Story'". So, here's my question to you, have you ever thought about your custom Spartan (Halo 3 and/or Reach) interacting with the Halo universe, outside of Multiplayer? If so, how do you imagine your Spartan's characteristics, and back story?

SPARTAN-II (Halo 3)
A-014
A quiet Spartan who will only speak when absolutely necessary. Prefers working alone. Utilizes two M7 Submachine guns, and a BR55HB SR Battle Rifle. He harbors a deep hatred of Doctor Halsey for kidnapping him from his family at an early age.
"When this war is over, and if the Covies don't do it, I'll kill Halsey myself".
- A-014

SPARTAN-III (Halo Reach)
Ben-375
Louder, more friendly, and almost as deadly as A014. After completing the SIII training, Ben was issued a MJOLNIR Mk. V suit, a MA37 Assault Rifle, and a M6G[B] Magnum. Ben was ordered to lead a small squad of ODSTs after the previous leader's decision caused a young squad member to lose her life. The squad consists of three ODSTs, excluding Ben. They are Scott, the previous leader, TJ, the sniper, and Pat, the big guy. At first these Troopers had mixed feelings about the Spartan, but after a few successful missions, they have learned to trust Ben.
"You shouldn't have done that."

Interesting Spartan, though I don't see any Spartan II hating Halsey.

I do have several Spartan backstorys, but no time to post summaries of them now. Might later if somebody asks.

I always thought "Why don't the Sp-IIs hate Halsey for what she's done to them? Do they simply not care, or do they not remember being abducted?"

Most of them accepted the chance to do a greater good. They didn't remember the abductions(happened when they weren't expecting it or aware if I remember, dead of the night). Even then she wasn't cruel to them. They viewed her as a mother. Their training also occupied most of their thoughts.

Didn't Daisy-023 remember her abduction? In Halo Legends, she has a flashback where those Oni Agents reach to pick her up.

Wouldn't be universal I'd say. Some seem to have wanted to go home but I don't think any of the official ones even got close to hating Halsey, thinking of her as a mother figure.

That said, it's your character so go ahead. I'll post mine later if people want me to.

Watch Homecoming. That really changed my view on the Spartans reaction. A group of them, 5 Spartans couldn't take it with the training anymore and held scientists at gunpoint demanding freedom as Halsey just simply watched.

I understand how they felt. Imagine how much they went through, all the surgeries, all the pain and suffering, they just couldn't take it anymore. 7 years through hell.

Although that short movie proves that even 7 years later, after being abducted, they still remember being taken away, along with their parents. Although their reaction to their clones varied. As it was said, out of the 5 Spartans that escaped, one was captured almost instantly, while Daisy and Ralph came in contact with their clones and were stunned at first but understood with the help of Halsey. While the remaining 2 committed suicide after seeing their clones.

This makes me wonder why they killed themselves and not the clones instead. Maybe they were shocked, but we can never know for sure.

This pretty much sums up the film in a way, so there is no need to see it, although I'll link it anyway.

Part 1
Part 2

I'm aware they are two different videos and made by two different people but the counterparts to both were deleted and they blend in almost perfectly, so you have to make do with what you got.

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

Type Spartan II
Class 1
Code S159
Service Number: 447751-2996711-MX
Name: Mikial Papetski
Role: Squad Support

Bio: Born to Polish immigrants on Harvest, Mikial entered Spartan training not speaking a word of English, having to learn it while in training. In spite of this, he formed a quick bond with nearly every Spartan cadet, he was quickly recognized for his sheer brute strength and leadership and was often put in a squad leader role during training.

His preferred weapons are the M6J Carbine, for the sheer volume of .50AE rounds it can put downrange, and the MA5D Squad Support Weapon, a longer, up sized version of the MA5b, that has a 3 digit ammo counter and can fire 60 round stick mags, 100 round drums, 150 round beta mags, and can fire off 200, 300 and 500 round belts.

He does however, harbor anger against the UNSC and believes in self governing colonies, psyche evaluations have tagged him a a special case, making it unlikely he will ever advance past CPO.

"You need some confetti? Point me towards a Covenant patrol with this puppy and you can have a fiesta."

Well, they get abducted when they are about six. I'm 19 and i can't realy remember much from whwen i was 6.

Then, Halsey became the only real mother figure that they had, over the comming decades, they will have come to see her as a mother.

Indoctrination.

Halsey is your adopted "mother",
The UNSC must be defended at all costs,
Preventing any wavering from these ideas.

These three ideas would become "fact" for the Spartans as they trained for decades to become super soldiers, not to mention Spartan IIs were those picked to be the best for the project, not just genetic profiles but psychological, personality and physical profiles and what they have experienced in their 6 years of life so far.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

Spartan
417
A "mysterious" Spartan that prefers the knife. Some compare him to famous assassins for his ghostly appearance and actions. Unfortunately he went silent after he was pulled out of the field for a classified mission.

I'll remain a soldier until the war is won.

Spartan IV James-012

A Master of assault missions, Spartan-012 is often seen at the forefront of battle, knee deep in piles of enemy forces. Rumors about this Spartan are even known in the civilian world. His armor is marked with a howling wolf, it being the last thing many of his enimies see.
Considered by many pilots in the Navy to be an Ace-of-Ace's, Spartan-012 is often called upon to assist in air-to-air or ship to ship battles.

Spartan IV Dante-506

Dante was stranded on an unexplored world with Humans that did not originate from earth, as well as creatures with animalistic traits, after a Scientific exploration to the world was ambushed in orbit by loyalist forces.

Unmatched at CQC and an artist with a Shotgun, many fear to stand to close to this Spartan.

Role:Assasin/Sniper support

Personnel note: Often chatty while on Ops with C-420, otherwise remains silent during all other ops including other marines or SPARTAN's

And that's Halo Legends. Didn't know anyone actually considered it canon.

And about my Spartan's story.......

My Spartan was in Alpha Company. She magically survived every encounter that almost everyone else died in. The Spartan II who trained her never heard about her survival. None of the other Spartans heard about her survival. She was never mentioned again, until somehow she had taken on several missions that showed she was capable of being (the magically 5-7 years older than every other Spartan III) Noble Team's new #6. Throughout this time, no one noticed that another Spartan III was alive, nor did they apparently care. Everyone blindly accepted everything that happened around them.

Oh and at the end, since my Spartan's death was never shown, she became a magical pixie unicorn, because Bungie couldn't properly show my Spartan dying.
