Halo 1 & 2 for PC

Subject: On the Discussion of H2V...

I know it, you know it, we all know it, Halo 2 Vista is a terrible PC port. It's been discussed to death.

I feel like about 50% of the threads stared in this forum are newbies asking if they should get H2V or if their computer has the specs to run it. Every time one of these threads gets started, inevitably a fight will start between two members who have differing opinions on the game. Then it usually turns into a flame war between members and personal insults get involved. All are usually equally stubborn in their arguments.

I feel like we could eliminate a lot of these problems by making a post that could be stickied in this forum discussing the pros (I know there are very few) and cons or purchasing H2V. This would include things like installation issues, mouse lag, multiplayer unreliability, etc. When a new thread pops up asking about H2V, a replier could kindly link this post, and tell the OP to decide for him/her self. In addition to these aspects the minimum (and recommended) specifications for the game could be put up. If they have any specific questions, they could post them in the proposed thread. This would NOT be a thread for recommending other PC games; it would be dedicated to the answering of questions by the poster in a civilized manner.

To be clear this would be different from the Tech Issues thread that is already stickied. Instead of providing information about technical problems for the game that the poster already owns, it would be more of a purchase informer, helping the poster decide if they should really spend their money on H2V.

I feel like this would eliminate a lot of wasteful, repetitive discussion on H2V and provide the poster an excellent view of what they would be getting into if they bought the game. There would be less fighting, and less trolls would be fed in the process. If they decide not to buy the game, good for them. If they do, then they will see what their money got them. They will have been warned.

Lot of text, I know. Tell me if you think this could work at all, and provide any other feedback you can. Thanks.

TL;DR: Too many new threads about H2V, make sticky post telling of pros and cons.

NOTE: Please do not talk about H2V itself here. Please only discuss this proposed idea. I will not hesitate to report repeat violators.

Something smells fishy...

Sounds like an excellent idea.

Stickies are great, but noobs will make a thread about it anyway. Noobs don't read stickies.

Well, at least a straight reference could prevent a Flame War

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I agree with the idea of a unified thread on the topic, though in my mind it's just morally wrong to consider or endorse making the purchase at all.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Stickies are great, but noobs will make a thread about it anyway. Noobs don't read stickies.

That's an excellent point.

Now that I think about it it won't matter whether or not there is any sort of sticked thread for H2V to prevent repetitive posts. People will continue to make repetitive posts for eternity. There's nothing that can be done.

It was a good idea but sadly it won't change anything.

There's already a thread about the problems of H2V. And that doesn't include the new ones. You know, like GFWFail breaking voice chat.
