Subject: Spartan III's

Spartans never die... they just revert to last checkpoint.

Also... what else could the planet be?

Balaho?

Yeah. Methinks it's Balaho.

It could be the simple explanation: an undiscovered Forerunner planet.

Only time will tell.

My guess is that it's the planet you see in Halo Legends in the episode Origins. They look very similar, if not exactly the same and could quite easily be the same place. What or where exactly the world is though, is a different question entirely. We'll have to either wait for Halo 4 or wait for the other two books in the Forerunner Trilogy.

It's Cybertron. My decision is final, my word is law.

If that's the case then Master Chief may have wound up in over his head. Not sure how he would hold up against the Decepticons...

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I have my own theory on some of the Spartan III teams operating outside their companies and well on in the future.

It pretty much centers on the Beta Comapany recruits that had ''dissapeared'' near Zone 67 on Onyx. I highly doubt they just vanished, but instead were taken by ONI to be taken into a Noble Team-type Spec-Ops Spartan III team, making sure no one would question their dissaperance by fencing off Zone 67 and declaring it absolutly off-limits. The recuits would never disobey a direct order like that.

I'm pretty sure alot of ''dead'' Spartan III's were actually taken by ONI for their own purposes.

I always thought it had been the Onyx Sentinels who got the missing recruits in Zone 67?

Also... Halsey was trapped in Onyx, yes?

She was also narrating the final cutscene in Reach, yes?

That means she escaped, yes?

Also... DaMasta Chief was floating towards a planet that kinda looked like Onyx, yes?

IDK I'm jumpin to conclusions. Stoopid conclusions.

The only explanation is that Halsey did escape Reach because she was in the book First Strike when John came back and save her and other Spartans. She later appeared in the Ghosts of Onyx where she and a handful of Spartans were trapped in an alternate dimension to be protected from the firing of the halo's.
Also I believe Onyx was destroyed in the end during halo 2 so it can't be Onyx. Time will only tell as to what it may be.
The number of Spartans is not necessarily set in stone. For one all Spartans are listed M.I.A. some could have survived, although very unlikely. There could also be cases just like Kurt who were stolen away from their teams by faking their death. I believe that covers some of the loopholes where spartan II's can come from. Spartan III's can come from similar ways where ONI snatches them up without anyone knowing about it other than a handful of higher ups. In the end the number is finite but not set in stone.

Encyclopaedia, Page 233
Following the sentinals' conflict with a team of Spartan soldiers, a pair of nuclear warheads detonetd by Kurt-051 destroyed much of the planet...

Given the destruction of Onyx, it is likely that there are no Onyx sentinels still in existence.
The FENRIS may have caused a chain reaction among those closely packed sentinels that made up the planet. The powerful blast would have destroyed the ones in orbit. Onyx is gone, and it looks like not even the sentinels themselves survived.

WTF?Those nukes couldn't even have destroy the planet, unless they have a yield of exaton. Those nukes don't have the blast radius to destroy all sentinels, and the book clearly shows us trillions of sentinels after the detonation of the nukes.

It were just the sentinels who destroyed the surface by opening fire on the fleet.

Some of things in the encyclopedia don't make any sense :(

It is possible. But too much was left in the dark regarding that matter. There wasent any info on a search-and-rescue attempt.

The only possibility would be that the individuals found next to Team Katana in Slipspace pods were these recruits, held in cryogenic suspension all these years.
