Does the Flashlight seriously nullify Camo? Heh. Sweet, detectors.
EDIT: Forgot to ask, does Flashlight always work in MP? Maybe 'cause I play in BG half the time and don't notice ^_^

It doesn't completely nullify it, but it turns them gray.

The obvious con is that you're running around like a lightbulb.

id just stick to playing without your light on, if you ever do have it on there's a 90% chance the other team has seen you (since the light goes through walls)

I only turn it on if I hear that the Active Camo's been picked up, I turn it off after I kill them or after about 20 seconds.

Even with the flashlight, the camo can sneak and still surprise you pretty easily. Considering the flashlight shines through walls, its the next closest thing to a nav-point. With that said Camoed enemy + nav-point on self = bad. But thats just my opinion.

The key is making sure you know roughly where he picked it up from. Most maps there's only one spot to get the AC, so it's easy enough to figure the general direction to search. On Hang Em High there's 2 AC spots, but it's still fairly easy to find them quickly.

Are you saying when you shine the light on camo it nullifies it or when you have camo and turn your flashlight on it nullifies it?

  • 01.31.2006 12:30 PM PDT

Bungie is the best.

Simple as that.

I wouldn't say it was illogical. They can make the same plans around a mentally timed game and look all that much better to me. I respect your opinion, but I'll probably never agree with outside devices being used.

too smart

Shining the light on Camo makes the person look a wierd gray that stands out from the background. As far as I know having the flashlight on while in Active Camo would nullify it as well, but I can't honestly say I've turned on my flashlight while camouflaged.

Timing is a big part of halo, especially on-line. Halo1's weapon respawn is just great, gives an equal opportunity to both team to get weapons and powerups.

I just mentioned that it killed Active Camo. I never suggested turning it on.

And don't say noob, it's a dirty word.

Sorry Double Post. So did anyone actually get anything out of this information? I feel like no one really appreciated what was said here. I would think that most newcomers to the game would take this stuff to heart.

Yes but regrettably, this forum isn't all that active.

For that reason, I'm overlooking the bump. I know this thread isn't as active here as it is on some.. other forums... but it's a hell of a lot more civilized.

How about another tip just to keep it all legal?

To practice no-scopes, play the first part of Truth and Reconcilliation completely without a scope. Don't touch your AR. Try it on easy or normal the first few times. If you can make it to the Lift without taking copious amounts of damage, you're probably ready for some sick no-scoping in Multiplayer.

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

Having your flashlight on when you have Active Camo doesn't do anything. Your light simply disappears until the Camo wears out.
