I just finished this amazing book. Its one of the first halo books I've read and I plan to read the others very soon.

I have a few concerns though, questions I came up with as I was reading the book.

Earth or Erde-Tyrene... Is it or is it not the Humans homeworld? Because through out the book it stated that they "assume" thats were we came from and then after the war, we were all packaged up and placed there again.

I'm assuming since the rings get destroyed in this book they were rebuilt (poor 343 Guilty Spark, has had his ring destroyed many times then haha)then fired later on?

The prisoner... so at the end of the novel the Didact's memory tells Bornstellar the dialog that he had with the prisoner. So this may be a long shot but could of the prisoner been angry with the Forunners (since they were created by them) and created the flood to exterminate the Forunners? I also didn't understand the whole thing about the secret humanity had to destroy the flood.

Discussion?

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

Where did they "assume" rather than state it was the humans' homeworld?

There were 12 rings to begin with; 5 controlled by Mendicant Bias. There are only 7 in existence during the Human-Covenant war, meaning the ones destroyed weren't rebuilt. In addition, Halos controlled by Mendicant Bias were not permitted to be repaired at the Ark, if they so attempted.

Third part is a cliffhanger. A cliffhanger doesn't work if you know all the answers. So, I don't have the answers. Fancy that.
