Ok, i am just gunna jump in here and try to make a point that will probabbly be shut down. but here it goes, the books were great BOOKS. and heres why: they didnt take a long ting going from one battle to an other. it was almost constant action! which is great for a book. and its exacly what people like us want. were gamers we all love constant action. and if they make the movie exacly like a book the thing is going to flop. the general public wants a movie to have some down time or else they feel like they didnt get any plot. now I just like most everyone else here wants to see the books put on the big screen just they way they are. nothing added. however, producing companies and "movie businesses" need something more than constant action.
this poses a new question:What can we add to the movie that wont kill the books we love?
anyone have any suggestions?

and someone said this on the old forum and i totally agree with it. Bungie has a rather good habit of not shipping something till its perfect. if they make a movie, bungiw wont let it go till it is indeed perfect.

Wow... Okay perps... This forum is EMPTY. I'm not complaining though... I kinda like it where I can post 20 or so consecutive posts...

UPDATE!
we now have something like 40 to 45 petition signers. Considering we added ten in the last 24 hours... That's not half bad.

Ok, a post to all "non-believers" a Halo Movie wouldn't be good. These are all "if" questions, but humor me. What if Bungie and Microsoft had the majority (or total) of control in the movies? What if the script was ONLY modified (if even needed; probably not) by Eric Nylund himself? What if this movie comes out exactly the way we want it? (LoL, we can only hope so.) What if all of these "what if" (or even a select few) statements occur? Either one of these could make the movie great. Could any of these change your mind? And don't forget another comment that is only a speculation: What if the Halo movie flopped? It may happen, it may not. I'm not making promises. And this is what brings me to my next point.

I believe it was SpartanFox that brought this up: "How will the public feel to constant action in a Halo Movie?" Well, this could work against the idea of a Halo Movie; or work for it. We, as Halo fans, know the action intrigues us. But with a general public, this could also be an advantage. Action intrigues the public too (i.e. Saving Private Ryan, Aliens, Star Wars, and SO many others). Plus, with Eric Nylund's excellent dialogue in each book, the public would have nothing more to ask for. A book is technically a script. It's how the director puts it on the screen that "makes or breaks" a movie. That's why a competant director is an utmost importance.

Plus SpartanFox, if (and God forgive) the Halo Movie is a flop, I don't understand how it could affect our view of Halo. We have excellent books, inspirational game(s), and a Community so full of die-hards, it'll be hard for a mere movie to unsteady our hold for Halo (unless it turns out good, then we rejoice!).

Yet Halo fans will be put to the test that day a movie does hit the theatres. [If it flops] they will have to decide whether a movie can make them despise the game they love or will they disregard it as a "mistake - and should never be attempted again" then just resume play. Halo fans will have to decide this on thier own, and it will be tough for some. But with the way the Halo Community looks, most of us will just blame the flop on some technicality (i.e. - bad acting, horrible directing, ect) then move on with our lives; but still play Halo. hehe.

I just finished reading the articles on the Halo 2 development. And I just finished looking at screenshots. The 'engine' Bungie is running Halo 2 with is awe-inspiring. Cel? We need look no further than the 'engine' Bungie has created for a CG movie. I swear the graphics for Halo 2 are better than some of Pixar's latest movies... A little upgrading to the engine and you have a movie that could be built in less than 2 weeks. A little script writing done by the people at Bungie... A little PR consideration. and the movie would take at max 2 months to complete. It is absolutely amazing.

Yup. The graphics are good enough to be considered "movie quality." Hmm, I wonder if Bungie themselves would use that engine to create an entire movie in CG? It would be a big (no, HUGE) task on the animators and cinematics people's shoulders. Unless they got outside help. And remember Zog, they would have to make new scenes, animations, ect. for a Halo Movie. It could turn out to be a big project. And would we want to cripple Bungie's staff for that long and prevent their future game from reaching the shelves sooner? How about if it turns out to be Halo 3? That is why this subject needs so much intense thinking incorporated into it.

I dont know about you people who take a good idea and twist it into a bad idea. I think Halo would make a kick-ass movie! Ive been meaning to get the book. Not all books have bad movies, for example, The Green Mile was a really good movie, and an excellent book.

You shouldn't just jump in like that and generally "claim" we're all Halo haters that just want to make the Halo Movie into something bad. If you've read any of our posts, you'll know that we're doing everything possible to make this movie idea as good as possible in the eyes of the Community. Even debating important topics directly associated with the Movie idea. Most of us here have read the books and just want The Fall of Reach to be the first one (if any) to be on the screen. Read the "1300 posts" Thread in my signature and you'll see our supporters. And I loved the Green Mile.

A Halo movie would be awesome. But Bungie needs absolute controll. It must follow the story and lines exatly. No hollywood s***. Live-Action would rock, but you'd need incredible actors. I say computer generated. They did it with Resident Evil and Final Fantasy (sort of), why not a game better than both?

I also found in my reading, that Bungie did in fact bring in outside cinematics perps to help out. The artical did not say who, but I'm hedging my bets on some unknown people who can do better than Pixar will ever do.
