P.S. I'm sorry but this isn't COD. you will not get your halo harrier or your halo LMG or our halo airstrike or your halo RCXD or a halo stealth bomber or a halo UAV.

You do realize the point of this thread is to create the weapons and vehicles the UNSC needs to be an actual military force?

EDIT: I love the retards who think the machine gun turret would be useful in real combat. Good luck lugging around a 50 pound weapon with no sights and actually shooting a combatant with it.

Its been done since World War I and is still done today with three man crews. One carries the tripod, one carries the gun and the other carries the ammo.

Aardwolf:

Unmanned off-road recon unit. Smaller than the Mongoose, with a full communication suite, enhanced radar, full 360 degree camera's equipped with night and thermal vision and on-board spoofing programs. Can be outfitted with a small auto-cannon or trip mine thrower at the rear of the vehicle. Dual reserves of C-7 Foaming Explosive ensure capture by enemy forces unlikely.

As a side note, I would point out that the M247 General Purpose Machine Gun from Halo 2 was small enough to be carried by a single marine.

There IS a VTOL military aircraft in Halo fiction, it's called the Skyhawk. It's used in the Fall of Reach book to test the Chief and Cortana. It has four 50mm cannons and can fire anti-armour missiles.

1. transport hog
2. no need for a super fast jet when whenever you need that kind of speed you'll be far away with plenty of space to store your toys. VTOL is only for local ops cuz if you really need a jet that bad you can call one from your spaceship. besides, there's the pelican
3. target locator
4. no, boring
5. there is a "wet" navy and they have aircraft carriers and stuff
6. F-99 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle
7. machine gun turret
8. shortsword bomber

P.S. I'm sorry but this isn't COD. you will not get your halo harrier or your halo LMG or our halo airstrike or your halo RCXD or a halo stealth bomber or a halo UAV.

As soon as I heard you're answer to No.1 I knew you put little effort into reading the OP.

The transport Hog is not a APC at all. It is the exact opposite of "armoured".
Machine gun turret is not an LMG, and nice answer to No.4

EDIT: Also, COD didnt invent the UAV or the LMG. Infact, a halo LMG was featured in early Bungie concept art. You=Fail.

You completely misunderstood my post. I was talking about a single person carrying a 50 pound weapon along with ammunition.

there likely would be a Squad Automatic Weapon, similar to the M-249 since forcing the enemies to keep their heads down is always a good thing, so I propose this piece of equipment:

MG55 (Longer, Heavy Barrel BR55 Variant)

Weight: 9.8 lbs
Ammunition: 9.5 x 40MM
Magazine Type/Capacity: Drum Magazine (C-Mag), 100 Rounds
Fire Mode: Full Automatic
Operation: Gas Operated, Rotating Bolt
Effective Range: ~900 Metres
Rate of Fire: 850 Rounds/Minute

The UNSC needs a complete overhaul in itself before you can think about adding anything.
Then you have customization, local variants, obsolete equipment in storage, reserve forces etc etc...

I did this myself, sort of making my own canon, didn't turn out quite like HALO did. XD

been in the process of doing just that for quite a while now, so far its not going to badly. no shield or anything like that either so far, even my SPARTAN-II don't have shield at the moment.

  • 04.13.2011 3:31 PM PDT

Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

Hardened Shielding, a little gift from the Starcraft universe.

Hardened Shielding is a type of shielding that only operates when powerful attacks hit it, but not weak attacks; like a shield that can block fuel rods, but not pistols.

I honestly think the spartans would be better off without shields and instead have SPI or Mjolnir with active camo. At least for recon and sabotage missions.

Since shields are really only useful if you're getting shot if you're on a covert mission and someones shooting you you're doing something wrong.

to be honest, as a long long lover of science fiction I can say with certainty that I hate these magical energy shields that appear in every science fiction universe, lets say 'sweet the Covenant have energy shields...' but why do the humans have to use reverse engineered alien shields, what ever was wrong with traditional style armour. same goes for the stupid 'it uses anti-gravity...' excuse for a ten million ton warship floating around.

would prefer to come up with a different solution than just shields or just anti-gravity, whatever was wrong with ten million ton warships just staying where they are meant to be, in bloody space! here is an example, at least a one I had in a short story involving a prototype Prowler was thrust vectoring for planetary landing, the whole engine housing rotates to provide thrust in atmosphere, also works really well for evasion in engagements.

the vulture in halo wars is a pelican gunship

No its not.

Vulture

Pelican
http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Dropship_77-Troop_Carrier

The two look completely different and the vulture has way too much on it for it to just be a modified pelican.

Wrong. Vulture is a gunship which derived from other gun-ships like (forgive me) the AC130.

I'll fill the first Gap. For an APC, I would call it the armadillo,
Post away!

Nope, the warthog counterpart in Enemy Territory Quake Wars is an "armadillo." Probably can't use that

Anti-gravity is obsolete for the UNSC anyway. We already know (see:Pelican) they can make relatively tiny engines that create insane thrust that run off of a fusion reactor, can run in space and have an apparently unlimited range. (extremely long times between re-fueling)

There is no reason a Friagte can't support it's own weight with these engines in atmosphere.

I've heard of this game. Wasn't it is failure that no-one played?

Anyway, it's not like the name "armadillo" is TM'd - its just fitting for an APC given every vehicle in Halo is named after an animal.
