This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

People skills does nothing against luck bending fortune.

John wins.

Space. The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of Murphy's Laws on the StarShip Enterprise

inb4chucknorris. Otherwise, probably John, but that depends on the shape both of them were in.m Kurt spend a lot of time training S3's, and John spent a lot of time on the front line. Therefore, John's more likely to win in my opinion

Kurt wasn't really in front line combat as much as John, he usually just trained with the Spartan III's. It also depends on the time, Kurt was never upgraded to Mark VI, let alone bother to wear his Mark V. If it were Kurt in his SPI armor against John in his Mark VI, John would win hands down.

Training new Spartans would hardly dull your skills.

Infact, I think he'd be sharper skill wise then somebody who just did frontline combat.

Opinion, and depends on situation really.

Though, we've seen Master Chief is not the best in hand to hand against things of equal/greater strength.

John was the only spartan to receive Mark VI, due to damaging his Mark V after the events of Halo:CE. AND, SPI armor holds an advantage over Mark VI: it can make the wearer basically invisible.

Opinion, although highly likely in my favor. Would you honestly root for someone with a much less durable armor with no shielding technology? The only advantage I can see the SPI has over the MJOLNIR is the cloaking abilities, although judging from Ghost of Onyx, it was hardly effective.

On the other hand, the MJOLNIR has much more durable battle plates and of course shields along with automatic biofoam injectors. These factor alone could determine the entire battle.

Although if you pit these two spartans together with the same armor variant, I would still give it to John. Kurt has not demonstrated any better in the field of hand to hand combat than John. Saying John has a difficult time in the field of Hand to Hand also applies to Kurt as his status on such has not been determined.

If it were William against John at hand to hand, Will would win, he specializes in it, Kurt specializes in leading a force, while also having a great skill in weaponry, but in all honesty, every spartan is. Kurt is nothing special aside from another Spartan, while John has a speciality in leading AND assault. He's seen more warfare than every other Spartan in Class I.

Not true, Just look at the cover of Ghost of Onyx for reference. William-043, Fred-104, Linda-058 all got their Mark VI when they returned to Earth.

Never noticed that. Just the spartan farthest to the back has Mark VI though.

I killed him in the face!

Enough "Versus" threads, post this in the Flood. Even if it does involve the Halo series.

You will probably get a funnier outcome there anyway.

Let's get it own!

I think John would win honestly, but man it would be an awesome fight. I would want to see Jorge take on Sam. King Kong vs Godzilla.

You can't beat Samuel. You just can't.

And isn't it ironic they both had to stay behind and blow up a covenant ship?

Was it Kurt in the books where Master Chief says Kurt could have been the leader just like John but just didn't want the attention.

Was that Kurt the Chief's monologue was about or someone else?

Fred-104

for fred. he was a killing machine without a conscience like john.

John without a doubt, as much as people 'disagree' he is the greatest a SPARTAN-II can be, he is the best humanity has to offer, plus frontline action will make you sharper than any combat instructor, John has had to kill or be killed, he is truly battle hardened.

  • 04.12.2011 10:44 AM PDT

Never say you're bored. Never say you're satisfied with the world. Never stop doubting or questioning things. Always wonder. Always think. But always take time to drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all the time.

Kurt

1. Trained SPARTEN III's
2. Defeats so many covanent without Cortana
3. Has more talents as we know in the book.

Also luck doesn't hold up forever.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

Uh . . . I like Kurt better but John lived . . . is it to the death? Or is it just a spar? But John in a spar, undetermined to the death.
