I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

I know this because at the end of Reach it said July 7th, 2589 and Halsey was talking about how Reach was being reborn and stuff. How could she know this if she was trapped on Onyx?

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Good point. But, it's probably just yet another break in the canon that Bungie just had to add in to the abomination of a game called Reach.

I'm actually just going to quote myself from the thread directly below this one.

Halsey narrating a eulogy does not mean she was actually there. Morgan Freeman narrated March of the Penguins, does that mean he was in the antarctic freezing his ass off? No. Narrators are non-diegetic (not part of the story world).

That said, I'm not saying she didn't, merely that her voice in that scene is not proof. Wait for Karen Traviss to decide what happens.

Don't -blam!- with Kerser!

Does it actually say it is Halsey when subtitles are activated? Anyway if they didn't find a way out it would leave no story for part II of Ghost of Onyx.

Yes, but Morgan Freeman wasn't one of the penguins depicted on screen. Halsey was a character, shown visually also.

There is a difference.

Characters are often used to narrate non-diegetically too. There are plenty of films where the narrator is the main character but ends up dead at the end. How could he/she possibly narrate? Because narrators are outside the story and are just a voice.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

And how would it be breaking canon? There has been nothing said, as of yet, about how or when Halsey escapes from the OSW. Whether it's actually her speaking at the end or not, I don't know, and it doesn't really matter to me, but if is supposed be Halsey speaking at the end, how the hell is it breaking canon, hmm?

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Bungie only used Halsey as a voice to narrate. This dosent break canon and dosent mean she escaped.

Yes.

Had they not, it would have broken game canon. Cortana and Halsey are the pretty much the same person.

Which is interesting because when Cortana starts to show love for John, that means that Halsey had the same feelings. Cortana reflects alot of Halseys more personal thoughts and feelings.

I think it was either Cortana or Halsey said that before she left and it was just a flashback type of dialogue. If that makes any sense.

Someone understands post modernisms use of a narrator.

"Concise and devoid of elegance...what I have come to expect from human communication"-Endless Summer

Ahem, that was Cortana, and notice how you never saw her? It was just a voice over. The guy from Fallout was never there he was just speaking to you to set up a story.

Halo2>Halo3>Halo1>Halo Reach :(

Ghosts of onyx was the best out of all the books if you ask me... it was like the big finale in a lot of ways.

I did my dissertation on film and music. You pick these things up along the way. It also helps that my girlfriend studied Film too.
