What advice would you give concerning the conflicts that from time to time spring up in groups? How should leaders handle them? What are some proactive steps that can be taken to encourage cohesion and unity?

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Ban the flammers.

Mind your own business in other groups.

The problems should nthen not arise.

The best, and by far most effective means of handling "Chapter Wars", is to never even start them in the first place. After they've already begun, they are almost impossible to stop. All I can suggest is that you ignore the "battling" chapter, and set your group membership to only allow people in who you have personally accepted to be a part of your group.

he means people arguing inside the group i think, barron.

just let them have their say, if you close a thread people are arguing in, problems wont get resolved and itll probably just derail a different one.

Just be careful with your privs, Don't give any Full Control User privs to someone you don't 100%, sell your life and soul, seal with a drop of blood trust. If flamers get too bad close the membership and make sure you (or a few trusted) members can verify who can go in. Also chapters are self moderated so feel free to use tha blacklist at will.

On another note, Chapter Wars or spamming someone elses chapter is the lamest, most noobish (yes I used the N word, please forgive me Bungie), way of argueing on the internet, and dosn't prove a darn thing other than people online have a maturity or an ADHD 6th grader trying to act like he owns the highschool. If you have some diffrences to settle online try a difrent more productive aproach like over a game of HAL0 2 or HAL0 PC. Or if you are real cool try an online Marathon or Myth match to settle a dispute because, Flames are Just Lame

Let everyone know that flaming is unacceptable and encourage people to message the moderators if they have a problem.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

Hmmm...the line for arguments.

If it is intelligent debate, or at least a valid one, then there is no reason to lock it. But if it is a flame-fest, or a simple contradiction that seems like it could become a flame-fest, padlocks and notices can bring the party to a sudden halt.

They want to keep it up? If they are good members, give them another warning. If they are normally bad members, a vacation may be in order.
