Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

And I realized that the Halo the map takes place on is thin... really thin... You can see both edges of the Ring rather easily. As far as I know, this has never been the case on a Ring. Even in Halo 1 when you first land, the edges of the ring seem much farther apart than they do on Tempest.

So I got to thinking that maybe it took place on a ring that wasn't installation 4 or 5. But then I noticed the crashed Longsword. So now I don't know what to think. I mean, we saw all the rings at the end of Halo 2, and they all seem to be the same width. Same thing in the Citadel in Halo 3.

So why would this not be the case here? Bungie did make the Noble maps, right? Not some outside company like Certain Affinity?

I'm pretty sure that ship is a Sabre.

That longsowrd was on a black op. It has special painting and seems to look a little different compared to the other longswords. The radio near it tells it's story. They crashed onto the ring and they were wondering what it was. They most likely died shortly after. They couldn't have been from the Autumn because by then it was established were they were and they didn't know where they were or how they got there.

Matchmaking is just matchmaking. I wouldn't take it too seriously. I would believe that the basic design of all the Halo's was the same. Circumference, width, etc. This is probably just a little inconsistency in the map, simply because it is matchmaking.

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

I have seen you future

Bungie made the noble maps, but it may have been a different artist drawing the background, so the ring may have seemed thinner.

Also, the two games with rings in them (CE and 2) were designed for 4:3 TVs, so when viewed on the 16:9 widescreen they may be stretched out.

There are actually radios on all the maps that tell stories. The one near the longsword tells it's story.

Interesting, I'll check it out. Thanks.

Actually, Incorrect. I remember one of the various Halo media displaying different sized rings (pretty sure it was H2, could be wrong) with varying diameters.

Don't know about the width though.

I'm surprised you barely noticed, I noticed it was on an installation on my first match on that map. But yes with the comments above, it is most likely on another installation with a much bigger circumference. The same goes to Forge World, I can't get over why the ring in the distance is so faint on both these occasions.

And on Forge World the ring isn't symmetrical. Your point?

definitely a longsword. looks like the ship the chief escapes in at the end of H:CE. sabre has engines on the wings, much more roundy and less lookin like a stealth fighter

The bird looks like a Longsword, but it's way too small. "Longsword" isn't indicated anywhere on the ship, so I'm considering it a possibility that it's a Shortsword bomber.

it is 100% a Longsword 'model', think Bungie messed up the scaling though, Longsword and Shortsword don't even look alike, neither does the Longsword and Sabre.
