This is probably fairly obvious (and maybe stupid), but is there a reason that screen names in all caps slow down my computer? It's the same thing with the screen names and sigs with symbols, but i can see why that screws everything up.

Note:My computer is horrible, but I never have similar problems in other places.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Are you sure it isn't the site in general that slows it down?

What I want to know is how you managed to determine that screen names in upper case slow down your computer.

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Depending on what website you view this website on can change how well the site performs. For example Bungie.net is best built for IE and not firefox, thusly firefox will run this website slower than IE... so it might be a good idea to check what browser you use before using Bungie.net. Also internet connection will effect how well you can navigate.

It's not just my computer. Today in my computer class, the same thing happened on those computers (they're pretty decent). So i'm assuming that it's the browser itself.

Well, I managed to notice that a couple of screen names slow it down. They were both in all caps, and it slowed down everytime the browser had their screen name in the window. I've also noticed that it only occurs after a certain amount of characters in the screen names. Example: People like EAGLES5 don't slow it down, but DARKZSOUL7 does. So I'm assuming that it's after about 6 or 7 all caps characters, that the browser or site slows down.

I (and the school's computers) use Internet Explorer. Also, I use Comcast high speed internet, so I doubt that connection is the problem.

Anyways, thanks for trying to help.

I remember one time some guy made and American flag in his signature somehow, and it slowed the heck out of the thread I was looking at. Scrolling was all choppy, people's avatars didn't load, the whole bit.
