Subject: Should try speaking with a representative of Bungie?

Loaf, quit whining and listen to Recon, he's summed up my thoughts on the situation. If people generally think you are annoying, accept that fact, you can't change it.

Freedom to speak =/= a guaranteed audience

Just because you want to talk (and you can talk) there is nothing that allows you to force people to listen to you if they choose not to.

I don't feel it's fair that people can mute me just because they don't want to hear me. I don't want to hear other people either and it's not fair that I have to be mute banned. It's unfair to me. I was about to take this to the reach forum.

You think that it would be "fair" that they would have to listen to you even if they don't want to? People who paide the same price for the game, paid the same XBL membership dues, and have the exact same privileges that you do?

What makes you so special that you can decide how their online experience is going to be?

Well sometimes i'm not the one at fault. Sometimes there's circumstances that are unfair, like jerks who can just mute you because they don't want to hear your voice and I feel like my game experience should not be run by other members of the online community, that is not fair.

If i were listening to you speak i have the right to not have to listen to you

That's why we had the mute button, muting by defualt does nothing. It's pointless, eventually you WILL get mute banned, it's only a matter of time. You could never say a word in voice chat, and still get mute banned.

[I think Bungie shouldn't do anything than act indifferent because they weren't there at all to see why a person was banned so they shouldn't mute ban people just because. I understand that you want Bungie to feel like comfortable like a "living room" but people have their own living rooms to play in or whatever, it really shouldn't be your say. If bungie is all just one big happy family than that's one dysfunctional -blam!- family!
Why can't you just accept your ban and learn from your mistakes? Figure out what your doing that is annoying people and stop it. This could just be something simple like turning your music down to a reasonable level.

I'm astounded that the OP has not yet figured out that he is the only person here who thinks the mute ban is a bad thing.

Also, this is not the Halo: Reach forum. I'm equally surprised that this conversation is still going on.

they think they can pull this mute ban thing which was never in any other Halo game.

Again, manual mute isn't that big of a deal. Bungie sends you warnings about leaving a to many games right in the middle of a game and then they think they can pull this mute ban thing which was never in any other Halo game. It's not the solution to problems like annoying people online. Because that's what this is about, right? Well, what give you the right to decide if someone is stupid or not? That's not just unfair, it's LAME!
It's apparent to me that people generally find you annoying when you speak. XBL is saving people from the headache that is a side effect from listening to you jabber. Deal with it.

Also, you're on Bungie's turf, you have no rights!

I feel like i'm not respected as a member of the community enough to even have someone respect my rights as a member. Being muted by other players show discretion from other player and proves that being mute ban does not constitute fair online gaming, which is just lame because online is supposed to be fun for everyone.

No, that proves the opposite: one person should not be able to ruin the experience of all others just so that they can have a great time.

Nothing is wrong with that. I'm perfectly fine with people's concern about the quality of my writing, thank you very much.
..... Making the game better......... Mute ban is an improvement.

Being able to mute: YES
Mute ban: NO(look below)

It should be taken out, whoever created it didn't have their head screwed on correctly. If people are to lazy to just mute you manually, they shouldn't be on Xbox live(almost everyone knows people are gonna talk trash once in a while in Xbox). By doing this everyone gets what they paid for, with just a few people hitting a simple mute button. Basically: ITS ONLY ONE CLICK STOP BEING SO LAZY!111!!!

So, I don't care about my rights and i'm aware that I have none, I just want to have a good time online.

Breaking my own mute ban for a moment.

So you are saying that your ability to have a good time online is dependent on your voice being played through the headphones and speakers in the living rooms of strangers around the world?

You must REALLY have important things to say.

Racism isn't wrong if it's funny.

You see, you paid for the game, you don't pay for the forums. The forums and their rules are exclusively in the possession of Bungie Inc. You have no leg to stand upon because you can use this forum for free, it is public
The most you can do is beseech them upon your behalf, though this is almost always pointless as the Website Moderators never ban for frivolous purposes.

Your best bet is to be wary of what you post and how you interact with other forum goes. The best way to do this? Never let you emotions get the best of you.

I hope this answers your question.

Wrong, there is no other side to this argument, there shouldn't be a mute ban period, and I can't see why people want it to stay, its just being lazy. And I can defend myself, if a bungie employee got me banned for no reason, I can fight for that, this mute ban is the worst idea ever, I don't have one, but I can agree is just stupid and ruins the experience for some people, maybe someone new will want to talk to him YOU CAN'T JUST SAY THAT EVERY WANTS HIM MUTED! Even if everyone does, they can stop being lazy and just click one -blam!- button!

[So, now it's up to the discretion of other players who some of which I never even get a chance to talk to before they mute me?

Ok now I think we might be getting somewhere... If your being muted before you even talk often you are doing one of the following: using a Kenect as a mic, breathing into your mic, or playing loud music.

SOLUTIONS TO ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS
1) turn the music down a little bit
2) use something other than a Kenect as a Mic
3) move the mics receiver further away from your nostrils: I know it smells good but we are not trying to play Star Wars.

You earned your ban get over it.

Why can't you just let online be and not try to make this kind of change? It makes no sense.
It makes perfect sense. You just don't like it.
