Again, manual mute isn't that big of a deal. Bungie sends you warnings about leaving a to many games right in the middle of a game and then they think they can pull this mute ban thing which was never in any other Halo game. It's not the solution to problems like annoying people online. Because that's what this is about, right? Well, what give you the right to decide if someone is stupid or not? That's not just unfair, it's LAME!
It's apparent to me that people generally find you annoying when you speak. XBL is saving people from the headache that is a side effect from listening to you jabber. Deal with it.

So, now it's up to the discretion of other players who some of which I never even get a chance to talk to before they mute me?

I know from playing Halo online since Halo reach for probably thousands of hour that DISCRETION IS NOT PART OF ONLINE GAMING. So, you can't say that I deserve to me muted!

Go congratulate the jerks and bullies online for muting anyone they want. I'm 17 and I don't even have a squeaky voice and i'm actually old enough to play this game unlike most of the little kids that play it anyone, so that shows me that bungie doesn't have enough control and it's going to sacrifice my good time and a number of other people's. And i'm sure there has to be more people who have had this happen to them.
Bold'd and underlined the statement I'm about to attack.

You are a dumbass if you think discretion isn't part of online gaming. Gaming at it's core relies on a base of discretion. You chose to buy the 360, Halo Reach, Xbox Live and the headset that others think you don't have the right to use. You had the discretion to buy each of those 4 items, you could have chosen not to.

When you turn on your 360, you could have the discretion not to. When you chose to go the online route instead of going through the campaign on a harder difficulty, that's another area that discretion comes up. Say you don't like the pre-game lobby you are in and choose to leave before the game starts, again you have discretion.

Your argument is invalid.

Why can't you just let online be and not try to make this kind of change? It makes no sense.
Bend like the grass so that you do not break.

Why can't you make an adjustment to your poor behavior, or even acknowledge those that are trying to help you? Any logical advice that has been given in this thread has been totally disregarded.

What I read was, "of course I should be allowed to use these tools as I see fit, after all I trust myself. But I don't trust those OTHER people to use them responsibly, especially since they might use them against me."

It's not "unfairly singling people out", if you are voice banned by XBL, it is because enough people took the time to file a complaint and XBL responded. If enough people have blanket mutes (they don't hear anyone but friends) that is how they choose to spend their time on XBL (it's no different than if they unplugged their headsets). Are you saying that you should have the authority to come into someone else's living room even if they have said that unless they know you, they don't want you there?

I think he's talking about the automatic mute ban, which is not controlled by the player. I can kinda see his point, but as someone who dosen't like talking on Live, I don't agree.

I r guy who gun to teach u lesson

I am really confused on where this thread has headed.
I think its what rights you have now :/

All I know is mute ban should be taken away.People need to stop being so lazy and just hit the mute button on their on.

And there is no reason what so ever why we need a mute ban.
Quiting ban, yes
Tampering ban, yes.
Mute ban, no-you already have the option to mute the person you want to so click it if your so annoyed!!!!!!
Now that I've said that I'm leaving cause I'm getting really confused
Summary:
Mute option OF COURSE!
Mute ban NO!(don't be lazy just click mute!)

Moo.

If its that automatic mute ban, if your teamates really wanted to hear you they could just simply unmute you, but since they dont it proves they just dont want to hear you, so my suggestion is just deal with it, I dont care who mutes me, and infact I mute most people because it helps me concentrate on the game.

I don't think you have any idea how the mute ban works.

Yeah, I laugh at the people who make personal attacks. if you think I won't stick up for my own butt (for lack of a better word :P) than you're the one who's wrong. It is myself that i'm concerned about..
You are just viewing yourself as someone who can do no wrong, while many people in this thread have pointed out the faults in your thinking.

It doesn't necessarily matter what I have to say in game, you're right but when I played Halo 3 back in 2007 up until reach came out I had a huge friend list of people who I still know online today because i would talk every match and make friends. It's part of the fun of playing online. Now I can't even talk at all and is is really that big a deal to have to mute a person manually? I know that they will send you a message about a warning for leaving a game right when you are in the middle of a match! So I just don't this this constitutes fairness.
Hey Loaf, I understand your point, I'd like to tell you that the Live community has changed, a lot. Nowadays people are not really interested in making new friends online, there has always been jerks online but apparently they are more common nowadays and it is because of this reason that the Xbox Live community now uses group chat all the time, they really don't want to hear you.

It is because of this shift of the community that Bungie decided to implement this feature and the mute ban, it's not there because Bungie is evil and doesn't want you to communicate, but because a large number of players online don't want to deal with all the jerks online.

You'll just have to learn to live with it and be grateful for the friends you made online.

Here's a good question, that I haven't seen anyone ask:
How do you know you were mute banned?

When people don't have any other reasonable explanation, they use a poor and stupid excuse to defend themselves. Way back in the Quaker days it was witches, and now it's videogames.

No wonder you were mute banned Loaf. Shut the hell up.

It looks to me like people of this community feel like what they say matter over me. Well, it doesn't. You people that just want to laugh at me for being upset are jerks and what you say doesn't matter either. You know the "U mad" meme isn't legit when we're trying to talk normally online which shows that that having other people be in charge and have the tools to ban you from talking is unjust and it sucks. I won't act like it's a big deal to all of you who don't want to hear about it. No one online ever seemed good people to me and i'm being treated like i'm the worst person in the world just because i'm here to be taunted by inconsiderate jerks online. The flood always talks about bullying and then you show here that it's all a load of washed up BS. So what...
A little over-dramatic, are we?

You're not being bullied. Not here, and not online (from what you've desctribed)... You're just making a point that no one agrees with and refusing to accept it.
