Well, i think this is what can generally help a group. For example, Body Politic. Political debating at it's very best. Or Halo 2 Uk, which offers a place for UK Gamers. Or the group im running that does Game Reviews.

The problem i find is that around 90% or more of the groups on Bungie.net are either ODST themed or Elete Themed. And it really buggs me. There is not enough new groups with good ideas, too much is being reproduced at therefore the topics get recreated time and again. Would you say that the discussion on some of the forums is becoming repetative? What can we do to combat this. I personally have decided to stay in 1 ODST themed group, and avoid others similar. And my other groups will have original ideas like body Politic.

Your Thoughts?

Edit- Sorry the title should say "Are there too many ODST and Elete Themed groups?"

Yes there are.

And there aren't enough groups that offer anything unique.

Yes I agree, not many groups with unique ideas to appeal to sensible, mature members. I think my new group has some unique features but maybe you nwould disagree.

There are far too many. And it also seems like these sorts of groups are the kinds that use questionable means of recruiting.

I totally agree. And Fear and myself are in the group running buisness ourselves and we try at all times to offer good discussion, and inovative ideas. Like the newsletter we are sending out to members who wish to recieve it.

a) We don't need to be dropping words like "n00b" and "fanboy."

b) Diversity is always good.

a) I will remove them then, it was just an example.

b) Diversity is good, thats why im annoyed at the lack of thinking some people do when making chapters, some not all.

Way too many, what's even worse are all of those chapters are combining, and for some odd reason, they think that that is a reason to bother me with all these invites to the chapters. DAMNIT i wil NOT join your little combined group of chapters!

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Far Far FAR to many Elite groups

Lots of ODST ones

What seperates one from the other.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

Yea, I'm getting pretty sick of those ODST and Elite groups trying to recruit me.

There is a certain lack of creativity in the chapters.

Like, if you look at how many chapters there are... and how many Myth chapters there are...

Well, there's only 1 either way. :/

I'm in a Half-Life group if you wanna join.... its somthing new... (Link in sig)

Don't do that.

But yeah, it's good to see it's not just me how is getting annoyed about this.

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

It's very tough to get a unique group off the ground. I've tried NASA/Space groups, VALVe groups, Sci-Fi groups, etc. But they all die of inactivity because everyone joins the ODST and Elite groups.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

There aren't too many. If people want to make an ODST group then I'll be damned if I'm going to try and stop them. Sure, there are a lot, but never too many. The old dead ones will get deleted with time, and we'll be left with the old active ones and new ones and so on. It's a cycle.

I think that the uniqueness is still there, but there are just so many other groups that are drowning it out.

Captain Waffles: Advertisements usually go in The Classifieds. The Septagon is reserved for 7th Column and community discussion. Just giving you a heads up =P

Orbital Drop Shock Trooper; these gentlemen with the Chief (1.2MB image), who were the premier fighting troops of the UNSCDF in the Halo universe until the SPARTANs came on the scene.

-- Steve thinks folks are joining for the natty uniforms.

I've actually never been in an ODST or Elite group. And other than ODST Recon I've never heard of such a group. I've asked a few people what ODST Recon is. I've asked a few people who are actually in ODST Recon what it's all about and so far nobody replied as to what it is.

I don't get it. What goes on in all these Elite and ODST groups? Or are they bascially just clans?

Well, ODST Recon is basically a forum for Bungie, xbox and "Competing games and Consols"

It also has some spin off groups that include a fanfic and RPG group, a clan group, and a movie making group. Along with The High Command.

As for the elete groups i don't know.

Well some of the Elite themed groups force members to Talk like covenant, thats there theme i guess.

The ODST groups are many things, ODST just look good as name IMO.

I am in some of the Covenant groups. But only 3. The one I sometimes go in is the Covenant Elite Commuity.
