Recently, I've noticed a rather annoying trend developing on the forums. Instead of people bumping their threads with the all-encompassing 'bump', they post replies to other people's posts (no matter how inane) or post some random thread of conversation to cover up the fact that they are, in fact, bumping their thread. I call it 'pseudo-bumping'.
Case in point this thread. XO Prophet has bumped his thread about six times. Want proof? Check the dates on his posts. They are all about a day after the last, and he says things such as 'yeah, that would be a good idea', or 'bots in multiplayer would be cool'. That thread has died way to many times, and should be locked.
I'm not petitioning to get that thread locked or anything. It is but an example to show you the problem. Doubtlessly, after a short search on the forums, I could uncover more threads like this.
I understand that sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a post and a bump. That is exactly what hole these people exploit when 'pseudo-bumping' their posts back up to the front page.
