The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

The question about the controller has been asked and answered a hundred times probably.

Yes your 360 controller will work, the game was specifically designed for it and the controller works better than the mouse and keyboard.

The game itself is Halo 2. Don't expect the multiplayer to be any good. The community is virtually nonexistent. You'll see a few dozen people playing at any given time.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

It uses a browser, so you can jump into a game with Coag kids.

The game is awesome. I find it easier using the mouse/keyboard there really isn't anything wrong with it. Also, i only played on Coag once out of my 20+ games so far. (p.s. this is not sarcasm)

It probably is sarcasm. Don't worry, it's ok. I used to think that.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Sarcasm and dishonesty are different. Saying even the original Halo 2 was awesome is a stretch. Stating the the Windows port is "awesome" because it "works for you" doesn't help all the people who have never gotten it working.

This text will appear with forum posts, groups and community files.

I plan on buying it too.

If you haven't played H2, and you prefer the PC platform, it is worth it. Just don't expect the multiplayer to be awesome.

The campaign of H2 is a decent sequel to H1 at best, even if they removed the pistol and broke all the vehicles expect the tank.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

PROS:
-It's a Halo campaign you haven't played if you haven't played it

CONS:
-Poor graphics optimization
-Unstable/lots o' bugs
-Terrible game browser
-Limited amount of times you can install the game before you can't use that CD key anymore
-No anti-cheat in multiplayer
-Zero support from Bungie/Microsoft and hasn't seen an update for years
-Games for Windows Live keeps breaking stuff in the game
-Mouse/keyboard controls are gimped
-Compatibility issues for any OS other than Windows Vista
-Button glitches are still in the game
-No dedicated server admin tools in-game

And that's just off the top of my head.

EDIT: Forgot an important one. The population peaks at 50. Usually, you'll see fewer people online than that.

Going to Best Buy tomorrow and might get it. What are its pros, cons, etc.

Also is it possible to connect my 360 controller or original xbox controller for the game

... uhh, why so people keep asking the same things over and over again? Look at previous threads will you?

Halo 3

The best way to find out whether you should get it or not is to ask yourself why you want it (or were considering it). Post your reasons, and then based off that, a legit answer may come. I bought it for the campaign and multiplayer, and that's it. I was given what I asked for, so I'm 90% fine with what I purchased.

It's great if you're a controller user (as kb/m controls are messed up), don't mind waiting 10 minutes for the lobby to actually show games, like an extremely small in-game population that never breaks 50 people, and don't mind the fact that the game has absolutely no anti-cheat and an abundance of available hacks.

H2V is quite sick, Hired gun only made two patches which only added random resolutions and didnt fix the game at all. If you even can get the game running, then you have serious luck.

As for the multiplayer it can be boring, and fun. most people play Coagulation over, and over, and over, again. but the GFWL client is good for talking with friends or setting up custom games with them

The 3.0 client of GFWL raped H2V in the ass, thus disconections from live are comon and other stuff

That's ridiculous. If you pay for a game, it shouldn't be tolerable at best. It should be genuinely enjoyable.

Often there are times where someone buys a game that hosts small "dislikes" here n' there that, overtime, become intollerable. Every game will have things that people can't tollerate, because no game is perfect. It's your choice what you choose to buy with your money. Just because I pay 60 bucks for a video game doesn't mean i'm going to love it, or that it's going to be "genuinely enjoyable", especially if it's a game I know I hate.

And yes I know you guys are hinting, for one, at the technical difficulties that H2V players may experience.

Just giving some interesting, yet somewhat logical thought in here!

Pros:

Cons:

-malfunctioning weapons.

To elaborate, this might not happen to you, but it happened to me:

I shot enemies and marines in the head with the sniper rifle, beam rifle, and battle rifle and those bullets were never (or rarely) counted as headshots, even when fired from up close. The only time I was able to get kills via shooting at the head was when I turned on Grunt Birthday Party.

This could be because of difficulty, but I've seen Halo 2 Xbox Legendary videos and headshots with the BR looked real easy to obtain.

This could be because I modded, but this happened on unmodded maps, with and without Paulus dev trainer.

I suspect it might have to do with strong autoaim and/or magnetism, lag, bullet speed, etc. I don't know what caused the problem and went to desperate measures (I even modded some of the weapons to have no spread) and as a result, I uninstalled Halo 2 Vista.

-No option to disable decals and/or shadows. Although it's not a serious problem, I prefer playing Halo clean (I'm persuaded it reduces lag), and disabling shadows would have made the Blind skull more terrifying as well as improving performance.

-poor performance. I have a 4.1 overall performance rating, with 5.9 memory (RAM), 7.3 subscore for the processor, 5.3 subscore for gaming graphics, and a very large hard drive and I still had to disable anti aliasing to get good performance. If you have a lower performance rating, it's probable that you will also have to lower the resolution as well as turn off some other things.

-modding limits. Unlike Halo 1, there is no Eschaton for Halo 2. You have to use one of the provided tools or Gravemind and/or Mr. Mohawk. I haven't tried the provided tools but I think they're like the Halo Custom Edition tools.
