I hated the storyline. The VISR and finding the stuff to figure out where your squad was and how it got there was okay. Sadie's story was fun to find. The characters were (other than Rookie who had no character and Dutch) bad. I hated Romeo and Buck. It was (in my opinion) the worst Halo game ever. What do you think?

I loved it. To me, it was an interesting story told in an even more interesting way. The exploration that was possible was something new and exciting for me. Being able to anticipate engagements with the VISR was a lot of fun, and the silenced weapons made me feel like a badass. In fact, it was so fun that I started a playthrough of campaign yesterday...

This. Most of the people who hate the campaign never look for any of the good. They just focus on the bad of the game. They don't take in the scenery of the campaign, the music, and the storyline.

Nowise10, you reminded me. I completely forgot the music. The soundtrack from this game is increeeedible.

Quod Erat Demonstrandum.

If you're interested in Halo's music, check this out.

Cloudy with a 70% chance of SCIENCE!

It had a pretty cool story/background

crash, find a guy, find another guy, find aaanooother guy, and then leave, but wait, you forgot someone, go back, find him while he's already found her, and then leave for real.

People always complain that the main characters in bungie games are hollow cardboard cutouts, MC, Noble 6, the rookie etc. They dont seem to realise that this is very intentional. Its why the MC speaks very little and the rookie never at all.

YOU are supposed to be that character, you are supposed to fill those boots, not just watch someone elses events unfold through their eyes. Its supposed to be your story. If you didnt get that then you didnt engage with the gameplay properly.

Oh and this is also the reason that default Noble 6 is a blank slate and any customizations you make to your spartan show up in campaign cutscenes, because noble 6 is YOU. Its very engaging.

Yeah, true but it seemed a bit overkill when it came to Noble Six. Master Chief had a voice and a mission - the rookie was only really a part of ODST. Noble Six just...I don't know. You can't take the characters in Reach seriously so its very hard to take your character seriously too. Although I was totally behind the Rookie in ODST.

I understand it is supposed to be the player's story, but some imagination could be used. The first 3 Halo games were "watching someone elses events unfold through their eyes". By the time you fill Noble Six's boots you just kind of feel a bit tired of it really (or at least, I did).

I loved the storyline. Kept thinking Buck should head on back and fire up Serenity.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

ODST has one of the best stories in the series, I really enjoyed the detective noir-esque presentation of the campaign. The plot was enjoyable, an excellent filler for what goes on on Earth in Halo 2. Sadie's Story was one of the best things that ever happened to Halo.

Halo 2 had the best story.

The Covenant became a character itself instead of just a race of aliens we shoot, we were given a reason to fight them because Halo 2 expanded the story hundred-fold. Not only that, we saw that the Covenant was unstable. You never kill a human as Thel, only Covenant Heretics and Flood - it shows humanity to be united against a common foe whilst the enemy is divided.

Also, the Flood became more than just a mindless parasite. I enjoyed the Gravemind twist and how Mendicant Bias is manipulating events in humanity's favor.

Halo 2 is like Firefly back in the day. The design is good, but nobody appreciates the substance, to quote from Jubal Early.
