*sigh/facepalm*

I'll be the guy to explain it.

Until 2007, Microsoft owned Bungie, but just before/soon after, Bungie bought its independence back.

However, Bungie continued to make games for MS, Halo Reach is their last Halo, since MS still owns the Intellectual Property.

343 Industries is owned by MS and will continue the Halo series.

Bungie is going multiplatform with a new project, suspected to be an MMO.

Any more questions?

I find your cookie giving skills lacking.

Also, why don't mods lock these threads as they pop up? They benefit no one.

How do you know this? 343i has hired ex Bungie employees and notable members from the community (BS Angel). They also are the people behind Cryptum and Evolutions. Personally I have high hopes for 343.

Universe moves slow enough to detect these threads and euthanize them.

Frankie, who "is glad at how well Legends fit into existing canon" and then Cryptum's crackpot story and Evolution's Spartan Team Black making friends with Hopalong, the footless drone.

When 343i does something decent, let me know.

Meh, I don't really consider Cryptum or Evolutions to be any significant achievement on 343's belt. I mean yes they were published under 343's watch, but it's still too early in their career as the guardians of Halo, imo, for anything really definite to be discerned about them and their treatment of Halo.

Right now the only truly significant things they have going for them are Halo Legends, which people either seem to love or hate, and the Waypoint.

I have a lot of trust in 343 because they have former Bungie members as high ranking employees, but I still think it's a little early in their career to decide anything truly definite or concrete about them.

Well put, but I would give them more credit for Evolutions than Legends. With Legends they just gave some notable anime studios a story bible and said have fun. Frankie wrote one of the stories for Evolutions, and Nylund co wrote one making the collection closer to the heart of 343i than Legends. They also have the Defiant map pack, which I don't have yet, but it looked like it was closer to "book canon" than Reach.

But you are correct that we won't be able to truly judge 343i for a little while, probably until they publish their own game. Until then I stay hopeful.

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

True, true, Evolutions we can probably chalk up as all them, Cryptum on the other hand, I'm not so sure about :P It could just as easily be all Bungie's work as 343's or any mix of the two.

Eh, I personally don't see why the Defiant Map Pack is such a big deal canon wise, it's just more locales from around Reach to me, two of which happen to be the from the book instead of the game. It's not like it added a whole new campaign or something like that :/

I certainly am looking forward to what they will do, and yes, I don't think we'll really be able to get any completely accurate picture of them and their potential until they actually make a game of their own.

Out of curiosity, how, exactly, would you define decent?

Personally, I found Legends to a be a refreshing artistic change for the franchise. Obviously, it was exactly what you'd expect Halo anime to be, Japanese culture/art tropes and all, but it was still an enjoyable experience in its own right.

Evolutions, for the most part, was also a good time. Sure, Blunt Instruments was a little silly. I'll give you that. At the same time, Stomping on the Heels of a Fuss, The Mona Lisa, and The Impossible Life and the Possible Death of Preston J. Cole were all great short stories that expanded the universe and delved into areas that would never otherwise be covered in the games.

So again, I ask: If not any of this, what constitutes 'something decent'?
