To the point that she was unable to communicate her thoughts through words?

Um, may I ask what the heck this means in relation to Six?

Maybe if you had quoted my whole post instead of just that fraction and read the whole thing it would've made sense?

Noble 6 was taken out of Beta Company directly after training finished. He was used by ONI/Ackerson as an assassin so its a safe bet he would have had specialised training for solo Black Ops, the Sabre program etc.

That's another problem I have. Why put an extremely expensive SIII into an extremely expensive top-secret plasma-shield orbital defense jet? That's just asking to lose billions.

First of all, the Sabres featured in Reach were adapted versions. It says so in the level. This clearly implies that the initial Sabre project, the one N6 was part of, was different than a simple orbital defence protocol we see in game.

Secondly, why put a Spartan in a pilots seat? Same reason Jedi were used as pilots. They have superb reflexes, tactical minds, strategical prowess etc. They would make be the best at whatever they applied themselves to, evidenced by the fact that Spartan II washouts were used as intelligence agents and teh average IQ of a Spartan is well in the genius bracket.

Same difference. Spartans are much more effective in ground-based engagements. Anyone piloting a Sabre has the exact same firepower, so throwing a Spartan in one when we've seen what 6 can do on ground is a waste. The only thing 6 has going for him is his reflexes, and surely that isn't enough of a benefit to put so much time and money in one vulnerable place?

Apparently it is. Ignoring MJOLNIR, a Spartan has the the potential to be the best pilot in the UNSC. Since N6 was destined to die anyway, why not put him to good use.

Also, what's to say that his involvement in the Sabre program wasn't a more stealth based one? He could have used his Sabre to obliterate Innie defences, then land and do his assassin thing on solid ground.

An unexplored background is not an impossible one.

Well, besides the fact you couldn't look back through the topic...

You were talking about Linda and how she was the lone wolf Spartan. Understand now?

  • 04.17.2011 8:16 PM PDT

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

I think he was a Headhunter but that's the only possible explanation

Usually, my response to threads like these is that Reach's plot and all of the Spartan IIIs' backgrounds make virtually no sense and conflict with existing canon simply because Bungie got lazy.

Instead, I'll just say that Noble 6 has some neurological disease affecting his/her communication skills.

God forbid new information comes out. And wasn't Linda described as a "lone wolf"?

Yes, because she's a sniper and still she wasn't "alone", she was most of the time leader of Green team. Really?

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Yeah, out of context quote, but I could've swore she had a habit of going on on her own. Didn't she break off on the Unyielding Hierophant and did some Banshee sniping? I'm a bit fuzzy on the detials right now.

For many reasons. But i got the feeling he was a "lone wolf" because bungie was referencing the other Halo games, in that for the most part you played as someone who acted like a "lone wolf" (eg Master cheif, Arbiter, the Rookie)

Yeah, I think just the same.

She sniped alone, still she was in a TEAM she wasn't all alone by herself, not like the MC in Installation 04.

One of only two spartans to be rated 'Hyper-Lethal", the other being the eponymous MC, who also worked best alone, look what he pretty much did single handedly on alpha halo.
Actually, John worked better in a team environment.

If he had all of Blue Team, even the dead ones (EVEN SAM!), and Cortana, Blue would be almost unstoppable.

John had a good bit of difficulty on alpha halo...

O hai

Headhunters were two-man teams of S-III's that went on dangerous missions, similar to Grey Team.

I assume Noble 6 was part of a Headhunter team, lost his partner, and had to complete a series of missions/objectives by himself.

Or he was some sort of special hit man for ONI. Like Sam Fisher, but in space...

Hell, that would actually make a good game.

AGREED

Didn't Six's bio mention him being Ackerson's "personal Grim Reaper"?

Posted by: jfull117
I think I heard something about him working for Ackerson

Not Ackerson, but somebody in ONI.
