Anyone ever tried to skyjack the BOB banshee?

For the last time, the BoBshees CANNOT be hijacked! I don't know how many times we've had this question.

This may actually work... thanks to bungie for the little sneak peak of the helmet in the Defiant Map Pack trailer. They threw us a bone, we observed it closely and now we nibble on it.

Would be better if you said
"they threw us a bone, we observed, and concluded it was a steak."

That line is hiralous Kira XD

Activate the pelican easter-egg on New Alexandria and then look for the BOB. It must go further than just getting the pelican.

Why on earth would it? It's already one of the most complicated eggs we've ever found, the idea that there should be more to it than that is slightly silly.

maybe the BOBS differ on the time and game , maybe each game was programed to cycle through diff spawns

I do believe every single copy of Reach outside of Bungie/343's hands is perfectly indentical, there wasn't even a difference between the Normal/Limited and Legendary Edition discs.

I might be doing a BoB hunt for this BoB at the start of the Exodus level tomorrow night (Sunday 9pm GMT) anyone interested?

Kira, I'm basing my theories off common sense and facts as well.

I really think you're hardcore trolling now, because you keep bringing up a Legendary ending (which I know doesn't exist and never said it did) and the whole "the helmet isn't on the disk" thing.

You have no proof it isn't on the disk, so stop stating your opinion like it's a fact.

I'll quote you again and reply to me with some facts to these
Three quick-points (for the people complaining, these points are my theories, not 100% fact):

1. BOBS work like Halo: 3 skulls, since the campaign had no skull collectables, or collectables that reward the player something.

2. One BOB medal per campaign mission rewards us like the Halo: 3 skulls did, with armor pieces. The "BOB Mystery Helmet" and the new chest piece are rewarded when 9 out of 10 and 10 out of 10 BOB medals are rewarded.

3. Halo: 3 had a huge mystery, the IWHBYD skull, and hackers ruined it fast. Bungie isn't going to make the same mistake again.

The only one i'm willing to give you is the 3rd.
The first 2 are pulled out of thin air.
I think this is even the 3rd time i'm asking you to show me your proof to anything your claiming, each time avoided by calling me a troll.

And until somebody can prove without a doubt that the helmet is on OUR disks, the "it's not on the disk" argument will always be a good and valid one.

I think his proof is that we've been all over the disk and that fact that nobody has found it data mining suggests it isn't there to find, which is a fair argument.
Unless as someone suggested it's been hidden. For instance split up into several parts with a script to reassemble it, which is by no means impossible, I could probably write a program to do that with a file.

It is hard to prove if there is or isn't something on the disc because it's presumably pretty messy in there and for fear of banning all of the infomation on data mining is hear say anyway.

Just an idea about how the BOBs might apply to the Vidmaster Oath.
I wonder if (in this case) the BOBs are the switches and have to either be punched or blown up with grenades when possible.

After reading this posted a few pages back it got me thinking that the BOBs actions might be trying to tell us something (The BOB wouldn't shoot you, he would only use grenades and melee).

I'm going to try this on Normal and then move up in difficulty after I'm done something else.

As much as i would agree with it, from an amateur programmer's point of view, it's not a space consuming wise choice.

When programming something, usually you would try to take as less space as possible and keep your code as simple as possible.

Not saying this is how Bungie made their game, but i just don't see it as a viable choice. The space used to hide this, could of been used for something more essential to the game.

Just my opinion tho.

Wait... one time I noticed something interesting in new alexandria... I was at the part where you had to protect the marines by killing the banshees, and one of the banshees I jacked, I still saw a red dot, so I want onto the building, searched around a little, and found that the elite... was not moving, and was... COMPLETELY invisible. Not even in camo, just plain invisible. So then theres that. If you skyjack the banshees, the elites DO survive, atleast if they arent over a bottomless fall...

  • 04.23.2011 8:26 AM PDT

Alright but the bobs banshee can not be skyjacked i think this has been said like over 9000 times in this thread

I can't believe no one has tried the marathon challenge thing yet...what's the hold up?

I realize that it isn't what you would normally do no, unless you were specifically trying to hide something, which seems unlikely, but it is by no means impossible.

orater in the other pages i asked people if they wanted to hunt with me today and I've got a few that want to participate

  • 04.23.2011 9:47 AM PDT

Did you see the news? The Energizer Bunny has been arrested, charged with battery.

Is it possible BOB is in one of the Banshees on Exodus?

Yes, there's several, they just don't yield the medal or the Elite Light Vehicle Kill.

the banshee thing might be true, i was playing the first mission i think and theres a part that you get t a building in a falcon and theres alot of enemies, after i killed them all there were 2 banshees in the air i shot at one to make it come down, took out my plasma pistol and disabled it .i got closer to the banshee to skyjack it but it had no driver so i just killed it

The reason why so many people ask it I think is because the banshees on NA can be skyjacked, therefore they assume the NA BoBshee can be as well.

If anyone wants to join my Sunday (That's tomorrow) 9pm GMT Exodus Hunt, drop me a PM.

I think that the BoBshees are the right ones to kill, we just need to kill all of the BoBs on Legendary to find out.

I've killed everyone on every mission but Lone Wolf. I need to kill the BoB on Lone Wolf on Legendary. If nothing happens we can confirm that the BoBshees are not the ones to kill.

I've heard rumors that killing 77 BoBs would work. It doesn't: I have killed more than 77 BoBs and have 77 BoB medals.

Here's my Status

Objective: Kill One BoB on Every Mission on Legendary
Winter Contingency: [Yes]
ONI: Sword Base: [Yes]
Nightfall: [Yes]
Tip of the Spear: [Yes]
Long Night of Solace: [Yes]
Exodus: Yes? (Covenant Pilot)
New Alexandria: Yes? (Covenant Pilot)
The Package: [Yes]
The Pillar of Autumn: [Yes]
Lone Wolf: No

It is extrapolated from the idea that they must be called BoBs for a reason, they are unlikely to be Born on Boards in a literal sense, as they are clearly not canonical (disappearing into thin air, avoiding combat, no mention anywhere else etc.)

So why are they called BoBs?
They don't even resemble or serve the same purpose as the ones in the orginal Marathon (To help you out, be saved and in my case atleast, get the bloody way all the time).

This, coupled with the B.net description reading "Wipe them out..." leads people to believe they must be called BoBs to reference the Vidmaster challenge.

It should be noted however, that the Vidmaster challenge was always worded as "Leave no BoB alive" not "Wipe them out", it was always that to my knowledge, no exceptions.

It does seem a reasonable idea, but I'm warming to the idea that perhaps it's a community challenge like the 117 million, or whatever it was, challenges to remove the rank cap. Because "Wipe them out" implies huge numbers to me, and there aren't huge numbers. We know they've done it in the past and they are more likely to have the equipment to do it (Tracking total medal acquisition sounds easier than checking someone's BoB kills across 10 or so levels).

Another point I thought of making recently is this, Bungie's largest challenges have always been signposted like crazy. When we didn't find the pelican egg, they pointed it out. How to unlock Recon was not a secret hear say discovery, it was a major publicized event.
