Some people say that there is nothing hidden on the disk, like a new armor or new helmet but what about redeeming a code trough xbox live and receive a dlc ?! It's a good way to hide something from hackers.
Just an idea.
Well apartently this isn't practical because the armor is coded into each invidiual level, this isn't coming from me it's from Kira. I don't know if it's true or not but that's what he said.
ANd my source is from people that actually saw the source code of reach.
DLC can mean 2 things
1- Disk Locked Content
2- Downloadable Content.
Redeeming a code will usually unlock disk lock content, Reach Recon/Flaming helmet/Elite Major are examples of those.
On the disk but locked unless you have the access code for it.
The bungie blue flame is also locked content.
In the case of downloadable content, this is not on the disk, its extra material added after the game release and is usually brand new. New map packs for example.
In the case of the "Bob helmet", the disk has been searched and data mined multiple times and nowhere on the disk is the mesh files for that helmet found, thus removing the "its locked on the disk" theory leaving the "download" one left.
But knowing how the maps are coded, hard coded with each armor piece available", you have 3 options left for "new armor".
1- Make new armor only available on the new maps packs.
But this option is flawed as well, you're only able to use it on the new maps and only those having that map pack will see it.
Other will probably get an error or code to see default Mark V [B]. This option still requires an update of the pre-existing maps.
2- Re-code all the currently existing maps/lobbies/firefight/campaign, in other words, recode nearly all the game.
Such an update is no small task to do and you also have to consider the size of it and the users.
Some users, such as myself, don't necessarily have a large amount of HDD space left.
Even tho Evil Otto himself said to not take him for a Bungie spoke's person, you do have to take info that such an update would be fairly large as mentioned above.
If they do take into consideration this update, it would cause some problems. As said above once again, some people don't have to room for it, not everybody has a high-speed internet and some providers even have a download/upload bandwidth limit per month.
IMO, the best option would be number 3, but it still presents some problems.
3- Re-release Halo Reach.
This would still cause some problems as people would be required to get their hands on the new disk and could cause some problems with alot of users that can't necessarily get their hands on it.
You also have to consider production costs.
This options would still cause a temporary problem, but out of all the 3, would be the best one to choose.
tl:dr -> Don't bother answering me if you didn't read.
PS: i do have to add i find it people fingering me out as a troll simply because i differ opinion about this tread.
Instead of blindly jumping to conclusions and making up near-crazy theories that have no back-bone to them, i look up my info, i take a look at it from a neutral stand point and then later make my opinion about it.
