Subject: The "BOB" Helmet Theories Thread (The #1 Search Topic)

Don't be silly. You're not wrong because nobody is agreeing with you, you're wrong because your points are weak and poorly supported. The fact that people disagree with you is a symptom of being wrong, not the cause or the proof of it. Canary in the coal mine, so to speak.

Hey now.... here's a thought.

One of the conditions of the Vidmaster Pledge is 'to never shoot where I could use grenades', meaning to attack only with fists and grenades, right?

Well, the other day when I was doing the LD Pillar daily challenge, I encountered one of the BOBs on that level; specifically, the one near the beginning of the Boneyard Invasion phase 1 sequence that directly follows the Bugger cave fight.

While approaching this BOB, I noticed something interesting.... he was holding a Concussion Rifle, I could see that, but he refused to shoot at me for some reason, even though he was looking right at me and I was definitely in range. He chucked a sticky my way, and ran up to punch me when I got close enough, but all the while never even attempted to shoot me with his ConkR. I know that not all BOBs will refuse to shoot at you, but it looks to me that like one in particular seems to have taken the Vidmaster Pledge, hahahaha~

....what does this mean? I have no idea. I've no idea if this is just a coincidence, or if it actually means something significant related to the BOBs. I DO think that we need to take note of the little, seemingly unimportant things though. (These should be FACTS, mind, not baseless rumors that we make up like the stuff about Buck or Brutes or the shellshocked Marine being BOBs. >.>)

I actually just now came up with one theory... I don't know whether this is the case either, but I wonder if it could be the case that there is a 'vidmaster BOB' who follows the vidmaster pledge in each level... a specific BOB that you need to kill, not just one of the several that shows up. That particular comment in the Vidmaster Pledge about only punching or using grenades could be a hint from Bungie for us to target specific BOBs.

I'd love to know the thoughts of the OP, as well as others on this theory.

Video games stopped even being remotely about skill after the SNES. Recharging health, checkpoints, unlimited lives.

I'll take you back to Battletoads and TMNT and you'll beg to return to the cushy cake walk that is modern gaming. Actually, let's not call it modern gaming, let's call it interactive cut-scenes that occasionally require you to shoot at enemies to provide the illusion that you are using skill to get further in the game.

It's probably nothing, but I've noticed random weapon drops on the last wave of 2x score attack. I'll be walking around trying to find a vehicle to kill on Unearthed or Beachhead (thanks for making the vehicle commendation so hard Bungie) and I'll notice a Sword or a double Plasma Rifle laying on the ground but I know I never killed an Elite at that particular spot. esp when the Plasma Rifles are standing straight up. Could there be a special Elite that appears and disappears like the BoBs?

No, those weapons spawn in the last wave, they just come out of the air, sometimes one above the others.

Just saw this video and it just might be the BOB on New Alexandria.
Linky
It counted as the Golden Tree City challenge a while back.

Desperate for bumps? lol?

I haven't been posting here at all lately, and on top of that I've been so busy in real life that I haven't even been searching.

You call that desperation? Hmmm.. Thanks for the bump though. :)

Unlike you Rofl, I have created a topic that has contributed to thousands of BOBs being killed, spreading the news and theories all over the internet, getting hundreds of people interested, and getting over 1500 posts. Me > You.

i still have some theories i want to test though
such as completing something similar to "endure" with 4 players on unearthed or doing something with a custom setting and playing as elites, etc.

i was playing the package on legendary the other day and encountered a bob at the final part of level standing right next to the wraith spawn. He had a concussion rifle and did not shoot until i shot him..

"The Septagon symbolizes all that is right in the multiplayer world. A few million men and women, bound by honor, Bungie, and celebratory crouching."

YAWN!

What gives OP? You stated that your proof was in the original post and it was supposedly undeniable yet here we are, 8 weeks on with 72 pages and even tho you had the help of a fair amount of the children and simpletons of B.net you still have given us nothing.

Instead of calling people childish names over private messages how about you give us this helmet instead.

What's the problem Game, are you a liar? I want my proven BoB helmet. Where is it?!

What a failure. ^_^

Ugh, if you read the OP he mentions the Halo 3 IWHBYD Skull, stating that it was supposed to take awhile to find but it was found by hackers. Now if we compare this to Reach and the BoB helmet, we are on the right track and and should be getting closer.

It will take time, but the helmet will be found. Also, the helmet has already been proven to exist. So I don't know why you felt compelled to say that.

And another thing, what did you think you were going to accomplish with a poorly thought out reply anyway?

EDITED: Because I failed lawlz.

I don't exactly know if this has been posted, and I am sure it probably has, but in Marathon Durandal (the Xbox Arcade game,) there is an achievement called "Bob-B-Q." The way to unlock this achievement is by killing 77 bobs.

So if anyone wants to try and go kill 77 bobs in the Reach campaign... go for it.
