I'm sorry but can someone enlighten me as to how we came upon the name "GRD"?

During Bungie Day some people saw an employee with the helmet in the armory named GRD. There is no proof of this.

Yes I saw it. But I was not recording, and I didn't have time to take a screenshot.

Yes, and it's true.

While no one got a screenshot, it's kind of hard to if the helmet is only there for two seconds and no one is anticipating it. We just have to hope someone, somewhere, recorded the live stream and will go back and look at it.

CHEERS!

Bungie needs to let us in on something or just give us a good nudge. This whole idea of exposing the helmet on a live stream is a great step for Bungie confirming authenticity of helmet. Perhaps as Bungie day has come to a close and a TU is in order, I think there will be a lot more talk of this BOB helmet and a lot more questions answered.
Thoughts? Cheers!

Can someone explain to me, HOW the IWHBYD Skull was ruined??
Because it was supposed to be a difficult Easter egg that hackers figured out by taking apart the game's code. Therefor ruining the Easter egg.

  • 07.08.2011 1:21 PM PDT

Seeing that Bungie/343i made the game they could have put armor on their disc but not the retail version :/

Seeing that Bungie/343i made the game they could have put armor on their disc but not the retail version :/
Then there'd be no point of having it since they'd only be able to play with other people using that version of the game.

I think that the TU and the release of HCEA will add Vidmasters that will unlock the helmet and chest piece.

Why is it called the GRD helmet? What does GRD stand for?

Grenadiers for Really experienced Drivers

Hmm... I see. No-one knows what it stands for. Interesting...

Isn't all of halo a big Marathon reference? go too the marathon wiki page Read the top ten most popular pages. Marathon =/= Halo

Join The Reach Asset a group I am very proud to be a leader of.

So Hayabusa was only unlockable by getting all the skulls in H3 and hackers ruined it. Meaning Hayabusa was supposed to be a secretive armor because Bungie suspected no one would find the IWHBYD skull.

Interesting

Or maybe the GRD helmet is a final Bungie Day prank.

I strongly believe that this white bobs are the same as the silver skulls. Though I have seen videos of them being killed and they do not reward a bob medal...I dont think so anyway.

Halo 3= Siver Skull=No Archivement, Gold Skull=Archivements
Halo Reach=Silver BoB=No Medal, Gold BoB=Medal

Silver BoBs give medals.

Posted by: Kira Onime
There is nothing tying the BoB, golden or white to the skulls from any previous game.

How many times must this be repeated?

Posted by: cj1b4u
Some one stated earlier that Bunie said that all the switches had not been found in the game. Maybe you do have play through the game and hit all of the switches for the BoB vidmaster

Most switches render the level incompletable.

Wait, what did I miss ? & why is it now called the GRD helmet ?, possible link to explain ? haha

Bungie employee accidentally showed us it in the armory!

Supposedly.

Honestly Kira don't do that. You have to know that no one was anticipating seeing that helmet. Once it came on screen people had to have been shocked for at least 2 to 3 seconds, trying to figure out what they were looking at, after that it would have taken at least 5 seconds for them to think "oh yeah, Print Screen!". It happened pretty fast.

Well no offense, but people can claim all they want but without anything, in this case a screenshot, this cannot be taken seriously.

All you need is 1 person taking a screenshot and uploading it.....

Just 1.

Until then, no pics -> no evidence -> no helmet.

a screenshot may arise, it might not, but it is still too early to start systematically disassembling people's hope. If this is a lie, everyoe's hope will eventually quell itself.

Well people's hope that the BoBshees might be boardable isn't subsiding.

It can not be just slapped on the disc as ALL MAPS WOULD NEED TO BE UPDATED OR ELSE IT WOULDN'T WORK, REQUIRING A MASSIVE TITLE UPDATE.
I keep seeing this, but I am yet to see a statement of proof. Since a map is just a space to load assets on.

Also why make a helmet, deliberately show the helmet on a new map (at the time) where tens of thousands can easily see it, for it to not be available?

Halo Reach's architecture stores all armory items within the map files, so the helmet would have to be added to every single one of the maps, then the item lists probably updated and god knows what else. I'm making a multiplayer FPS at the moment that uses a similar architecture and it would be bloody difficult to update.

Posted by: HomeopathSiren7
Wait... look up tender loins on bungie.net Hes a captain grade 2 and he has 100% armory completion?

It's Bungie, they can cheat on their own game if they want to.

Posted by: nitwitcoffee10
Maybe it is for 343 employees only. Think about it:

There are now more than 150+ players who reached inheritor and got the Haunted, one of Bungie's trademarks.

Bungie gave away their other prizes, in the Blue flames, and "Bungie" nameplate.

Since we don't have the Helmet/chest, it must be for 343 employees only, as they will assume control.

Bungie must have coded this into the game, intending 343 to use it by themselves after their TU.

Bungie stated they had no idea the helmet existed till they say the original IGN screenshot.

All Bungie employees get 100% of the armory unlocked. The thing is, just like the Blue Flames, the helmet is hidden and cannot be seen or accessed unless we figure out how to trigger it's unlocking in the armory.

people on youtube hack to get all armor, but they dont get eternal or BoB helmet from the hack...its hidden very well

Because all they did in the hack was mod the amount of credits earned in a game to rank them up to inheritor. That's why when someone says they have the full armory on youtube, they don't have any of the waypoint armor, the legendary flames, recon for reserving the game, or the multithreat chest that you get from gamestop.

If someone wanted to they could dump the game data onto a computer and open it with a 3rd party program and sift through data until something is found. That's the only way to completely tell what is and isn't on the disc.

sir you are indeed onto something.

I'm trying to do this at the moment but it's complicated and slow.

Favorite toy as a kid kinda bears resemblance to the BOB helmet.

This guy.

Oh my god I love you. He is the best toy ever.

Seriously, you guys are churning out stuff faster than I can answer/debunk it.

Do you know if anybody has unlocked all the medals (including all Matchmaking, Firefight, Campaign, and BoB medals), has all achievements (including Noble and Defiant achievements), 100% armory, and last but not least 100% commendations? In other words 100% game completion.

Correct me if I am wrong... But anytime you see an interview with a Bungie or 343 employee they always give some vague hint or clue when asked about armor (BOB helmet) and just say "Play the game" or "Be dedicated".

Maybe to unlock the helmet you have to complete the game 100%?
I don't know of anybody that has done that yet.

It would require you to have above average skill for every aspect of the game. Not just skill as a BoB Hunter or a bad ass on FF matchimaking.
Hell I dunno... Everyone else threw their conspiracy theory out there. Why not throw mine in the mix. Enjoy.

Other than glancing at threads when this whole BOB stuff first popped up on the internet, I haven't really followed this search whatsoever. However, now I feel really inclined to participate in this effort.

Though first I need a few things to be answered, can somebody elaborate the number of these BOB's that can possibly exist? Is there only one per level (if so, in which levels have BOB's not been found), or are there multiple per level (If so, is there a known value to how many per level)? And how many BOB's to date can be killed? Which cannot be killed?

I would really appreciate some insight. Perhaps, all my questions are answered in the OP, but i'm hoping someone can sum up my questions in a sentence or two.

There are 1-3 per level, all ones we know of can be killed, it is possible to get multiples in one level.

I don't think so, I've played through the first two of them and I didn't see any GRD, it could be in infinity though.
