Hey everybody, here's the Bungie Day youtube video for those who can't find it. It's only part 1, but keep an eye out for later parts and the times they are in the armory!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvadZFhfceM
And a question, why was the helmet's named changed to GRD?

it said the name of the helment was GRD when bungie "looked" in the armory

  • 07.08.2011 11:54 PM PDT

I don't know but I would assume someone got just a smidge of a glance and saw the helmet and those 3 letters where the name should be.. either that or those were the letters that stuck out at him.

Personlly I agree with someone above I would like to see the video for myself, but I am in numerous search groups in Bungie.net and it can't be a coincidence.

  • 07.08.2011 11:55 PM PDT

Just think about this irony for a second.. the picture was on Countdown, that would be kind of ironic since the release of Halo:CE, Halo:2, Halo:3, Halo:O.D.S.T., Halo:Reach Bungie has always had a countdown so to speak after counting down the days until one loyal fan cracks the code or finds the `Siege Of Madgrigal' in some far away corner on a ledge somewhere.

This is why secrets are made.. they made to be unraveled, because if no-one truly finds it then what good is the treasure at all?

Does it show the helmet in part 2? If so, what time?

  • 07.09.2011 12:48 AM PDT

No it will most likely be part 3, if not part 4. this is way early in the day of when it was shown

  • 07.09.2011 12:53 AM PDT

It's not there. Part 3?

  • 07.09.2011 12:54 AM PDT

he just put up 2, might be another day for 3.

  • 07.09.2011 12:59 AM PDT

ok just a thought. what if "it" needs a single playthrough of the game, no breaks. i guess it wouldn't matter much if we haven't them all. i like the all pads switches and bobs idea, but once again, maybe in the same play through.

Subject: The BOB Search Topic (GRD Helmet Mysteries)

I totally bookmarked/saved this thread. So I feel like contributing my own theory into this jumble. So far with bungies references to space and countdown's seven holes, has anyone gone into theater mode on a play through of LNoS and paused and explored the Countdown area? It might also be worth it to ask if so the 7 holes is their anything unique about them actually in campaign. As for the killing of BoBs we know theirs a medal for every BoB Except for Exodus and New Alexandria, so far the only thing I've heard of to solving this problem is of a single elite that spawns around the time in a play through that you would encounter the brutes getting dropped of from phantoms before the elevator. He was seen running back towards the suicide grunt area. I read this very early in the topic and skipped many pages so if this has been addressed I apologize. It's a long range shot if it does exist but their is a sniper available right when you first encounter the brutes so that would help with the killing of it. As for New Alexandria, I think it's worth it to try hitting the three known buttons, the two for club serra and the pelican easter egg button, and exploring the outside area's of the map. Again theater mode would aid this greatly, it's a large map and there's a possibility that a BoB on the ground could spawn in an area that is incredibly far out, such as the Master Chief figure on Lone Wolf.

I will be going through theater mode quite a bit tomorrow looking for anything strange on the multiplayer maps, like possible out-of-bounds pick ups or clues, sort of like the skull on sandbox in Halo 3. My thinking is, is that bungie could have hidden such things in matchmaking that are hard to get do to the soft kill boundaries, but are possible with bro-spawning and moving or with the use of specific armor abilities.

Just a couple idea's and theories I have that could lead to something, probably not but their worth a try.

I mean seriously, who found these switchhes, and what the hell were they doing to discover such out of the way things that have to be hit in a certain order, some i even heard were invisible! seems more like leaked info to me.

Both those images state a specific day, March or May 14th 2008, possible significance to anything? REALLY Long stretch but if it's May, then May(3 letters)+14+2+0+0+8=27 with if we remember the number sequence heard of the radio, it also ads up to 27.

I have walked among men and angels for three thousand years. Time has no end... no beginning... no purpose.
I wander the earth, seeking forgiveness for my horrible crimes against God and man.
I live to see death, destruction, over the light, but the light cannot be extinguished.
I live in a prison of my own demise.
I am lost in time. -Gravemind-

Anyone notice the BXR reference in the second picture?

  • 07.09.2011 1:12 AM PDT

stupid little thing i found in the level where you start with the sniper at night(please excuse my ignorance) there is a part where a flock/gaggle/murder of moas(definatly murder) strangly dissapear right in front of you. if you look up alittle towards the rock bridgelike thing, a moa is dropping out of the sky. I thought these things were flightless.

I forgot to add.

The first pic was right outside the entrance to the launch facility. On the far side of it.

The second pic was right outside a door that I have had no luck in opening or getting into.

Ghost phenomenon. I thought it happened with vehicles, Forge manipulation, and loading point glitching but that's clearly not the case.

Seriously though, it could just be a rather unusual spawn that they didn't bother to hide.

  • 07.09.2011 1:21 AM PDT

you just opened a whole box o' donuts!

Maybe how many bobs per lvl represents how many times you fall through certain holes. left to right? lol

  • 07.09.2011 1:22 AM PDT

Hey I also found a couple things of the 4th floor of countdown.

The first two are of another GRD reference and the last one is also on countdown but idk if it's an reference or Easter egg or what. I found it in one the instant kill zone rooms in theater mode.

lol thats funny. but i believe it can exist and maybe bungie was using a differnt disc..come'on its bungie[/quote]

Well, you remember how H3: ODST had a multiplayer H3 disc? Perhaps the H:R multiplayer disc for HCEA will have it on. Think about it:

Everyone keeps saying "its not on the disc", what if it is on another disc? It would make sense. I don't 100% know, so I'm just throwing this idea out, I'm sorry if I missed anything (now I wait 4tehtrolls :\)

It would still need to be downloaded by people with the original Reach disk, which I think has been established to be impossible based on Reach's raggity ass architecture.

I would have gotten you that hyperlink, but the other guy beat me XD.

I meant that the helmet would only be available to those with the HCEA disc, but then they wouldn't be able to play with others on the normal disc, so back to square 1 again :\
Recon was on the original halo 3 Disk, so could this one. And like ODST it's unlocked from achivements on both the Multiplayer disk, and original. That wouldn't cause any problems.

Well the assumption round here is that there is no helmet because there is no helmet on the disk, which I'm inclined to agree with, there would have to be a GRD_helmet.tga texture file somewhere for instance.

Or......or.....
Maybe when you install the Anniversary multiplayer maps to your hard drive to play on the Reach disc, it unlocks more of the Armory?

That would require replacement of all Reach maps.

Also, I'm looking on youtube, and it says there is a tutorial for the Goldan City Tree (W/e it's called) BOB. Have these been confirmed?

Yes, ages ago.

Posted by: D1STAnt PWn3r
@siul s249

Sorry, you. There is an Easter Egg where you can fly a pelican or phantom. You have to hit a pad on top of a building, then fly a banshee or falcon in a ring. So after you hit it, you can high jack them.

You can hijack banshees on NA at any time.

If the Helmet is on one disc, Then others don't have it- Thus that game can't SEE it and it would break Matchmaking.

Not true. There's absolutely no reason why Reach can't kick back to default helmets if a player doesn't have extra content. Driving games to this all the time by either forcing render of a default car or simply ghosting the car.

That depends on their error handling, driving games see that kind of thing coming, if your never planning on having two players with different armories you probably won't add a contingency plan.

Posted by: II Archetype II
OP link this?

One of the Bungie monitors from the livestream have been paused in what seems to be theater mode with a Spartan looking down one of the multiplayer map Countdown's drop holes.

Someone keen caught on that Countdown has seven holes. If anyone recalls IWHBYD, then hole dropping may be the new ring jumping. It's possible it's just bogus over imagination, but it's certainly an interesting thought.

I shall quote somebody on that thread "This my children, is how wild conspiracies are born".

Does anyone know anything about the Data Pads?? I'm driving around on Winter Contingency and I went into a building that had a bunch of grunts, 2 jackals, not one orange elite (not a BoB). I searched through all the surrounding buildings and came across a bald guy that was dead and had a Data Pad sitting next to him on the floor. You can access the data pad but it just has a 5 pages of text talking about the galaxy and what not.

Also, the building number was 7. Maybe this has something to do with the number code everyone is trying to decipher?

Back down the rabbit hole I go.

They add optional backstory to the whole universe.

Posted by: Hype 67
Perhaps this helmet involves the data-pads throughout the campaign. The Elite carrying the data-pad in the first mission is a spec-ops elite the second armor. Thus you enter the second ring. What i can tell is that the order of the puzzle is 2****1. The main objective ATM is to figure out the numbers of the holes you drop through. First floor (Shotty room) is 1 next Floor. (1 floor above the Shotty room) Is 2. The ring on the ground in front of the rings is a distraction -Pointless-. The concentration is to find out what the other numbers of the datapads are. Elite armors, Building numbers ect. No matter what the highest number you will see is 7. With 10 total missions within the campaign missions the Code is 10 numbers long so its 27*******1 Its IWHBYD all over again.

At this exact moment I and some friends are currently attempting to crack the Code GT: Hyperion 67

No. This holes idea beats everything else I've ever seen on the forums for ridiculousness. They were probably just watching one of their games back, it means nothing! One of them was also wearing a green hoodie, perhaps we have to do something with Jun because he's also green?

Guys Prehaps the skull is in the countdown in the campaign?

Err... What skull?

Posted by: xl 4ndre lx
how many "seek and destroy" medals can you get? Is there a limited number or is it an endless amount?

As many as your willing to waste time getting.

I have been in the count down room in theater mode and I found these gadgets.

That's some wire, a multimeter and a screwdriver, it's decoration.

You can get all you want. But there are 1-2 BOBs on each mission. You get more, everytime you replay the mission.

Posted by: UrbanBuffalo
I found a marathon symbol on Countdown near a vent hole... (of which there are 7...)

There are a few of them.

Good job dude, I wouldn't have ever seen that.

@ZipZap The Pelican "Glitch" is an Easter Egg, just thought I should clear that up.

Try looking in the hole for close details (numbers, ect.) Maybe something near or under the water on the outside paSt the air vent. I'm guessing the hole corresponds to a BOB, or probably BOBs.

@: Hype 67
My problem with that is that there are more than just one BOB in each level. And I heard the BOBs necks were numbered. It might have to do with the order you kill them in, and the order of the holes you jump through. Try to find simmilaritites on a BOB, and a hole.

That's just part of the wall texture, it's not a marathon symbol your just seeing things.
Would people stop with this hole nonsense! Just because one guy happened to be watching theater and didn't turn his xbox off when they went for a break doesn't mean there is anything interesting about it.

Can you imagine the discussion beforehand?

Bungie Guy 1:"hehehe, we'll put up a picture of the countdown hole, then every will know to jump through them to get teh secrets"

Bungie Guy 2:"I don't know about that, I think it might be too obvious, everyone will pick up on that straight away!"

They also spent a great deal of their time on Powerhouse, that doesn't mean the helmet is actually buried under the floor of the Powerhouse showers!

I think someone said it quoted "Subliminal Bungie Message" or something.

@Phazon113 Since there have been two BOBs on LNOS, and you found two codes, maybe that tells us for sure, how many BOBs are on that level. But there could be more. And the other numbers are either random, or mean the location(my guess is location, or hint to location) so we have to find them on the other maps like NA and EX. The EX theory someone said earlier sounded good.
