I was exploring countdown in campaign and may have found a hidden room. I am just getting to it in theatre now. I found the room by jumping across horizontal "poles" just under where you enter the saber from and jumping to the other side. Once you cross it is on the same level but I cannot find a way to get to it.

armour lock clip!

something like this only you can go down or sideways through walls!

The issue is more of a rather large cap inbetween the room and where you can get to.

its worth a shot right?

I think I found something. Anyways I've heard about the rings on Countdown and such from this topic before and I decided to check it out.

Anyways I was forging on countdown and I came up to 3rd floor ring on the left side, the one that lead down to the 2nd floor. Now on the rings there are two little boxes on the side of the ring, one on the left, and one on the right. I hit the left one, and I heard a little ping.

I hit it again, and hit the other box on the other side and there was no ping. I'm thinking that ring is the start of some code or something ala Halo 3. Every time I thought I messed up, I went back and hit the same box and heard the ping.

I don't know the order, nor whether this is just a sound effect or something else, but I think it starts with that ring box. Thoughts?

What boxes do you mean?

On the side of a ring there is a box holding the ring up. One on each side of the ring. If you still don't know what it is I can probably put a photo of it on my fileshare.
EDIT: It's now on my file share. There are two boxes on the side of the ring. On this particular ring, the left box will make a ping.

If you mean the hole in the wall, I already got to it by jumping off my teammate. There's nothing there. I also found a room full of pipes. The vids (of the pipe room) are in my fileshare. If you find a hidden room that I didn't during your run-through, I'll give you a cookie.

On the left and the right of the holes. It's true but I don't think it has any meaning, just a random hit sound.

I think everyone's infatuation with this helmet stems from the fact that many of them have come to the realization that they'll never be able to get the Haunted Helmet so this is their new "holy grail".

You didnt show it in any of your videos, its the room(yeah kinda a whole in the wall) that you would see as you come up the stairs from the room you entered in your second video.

  • 07.09.2011 9:18 AM PDT

Yeah, I know. I just mentioned that I had videos of the pipe room. I didn't record the vid of the hole in the wall because it wasn't really interesting. I guess I could to show you what it looks like since you haven't seen the inside.

Edit: It'll take a while for me to get to that part though since the original film is over an hour long >_>

S'all good, it is still strange why its there though. It serves no purpose.

I just had a thought. If the GRD helmet is on the disk, dont you think we would be able to see it after doing the hologram glitch enough times. The only reason I think it might not work is Ive never seen haunted helmet come out of doing it, I have seen however Eternal(Elite), Legendary(Elite), Waypoint Armor, and a chest piece with the knife on the spartans back. Just an idea, if you wanna try it, go for it.

You do it by getting two people in Forge mode over Xbox LIVE and one of you gets a hologram AA. You then send out a hologram just as you go into monitor mode, it will randomize the armor. The armor effect is only randomized on Elite's, who are always white and always wearing default minor armor.

im sure someone found this but on countdown there is a small multimeter for measuring voltage in the corner of a small room near the top of the map

There are several of those throughout the campaign, I've seen them on LNoS and Exodus atleast. They're just decoration. I have the multimeter it's based off at home actually.

I would like to point out to everyone that the holes theory has a hole in it (excuse the pun). The rings in Halo 3 made sense in their position (they displayed the status of the rings in the Ark's control room) BUT they made notes when you jumped through them which was supposed to give the egg away.
For all you how don't know, you had to play the Halo theme with these notes.
The holes on Countdown also make sense (the whole thing is like a thrust dispersal area, also the map needs them to play right) but unlike the rings there isn't anything odd about them to suggest they are more than holes in the floor.

I believe it's there to maintain the symmetrical qualities of the level. You'll notice that the bridge leading you from the main building to the Saber is on the opposite side, so that room is there to simulate the room you came from.

how do we know if theres anything on countdown?

  • 07.09.2011 9:41 AM PDT

Yep, that's the one!

Edit: @Luna, we don't for sure, but it doesn't hurt to look. The evidence that started this search wasn't very compelling, but the two "GRD" signs on the wall, as well as all of the "hidden" rooms on this level, have peaked my interest.

No no I am talking about the room way up in the corner, that is just a blank whole. Not the one you walked down to in your video.

Edit: Oh wait, nvm i understand you now. I think you are right.

Here's my idea.

Maybe anyone who downloaded the Defiant Map Pack already has it. This map pack was 691.43 MB while the Noble Map Pack was only 392.82 MB.

Maybe this extra space needed was the helmet everyone is looking for.

  • 07.09.2011 9:58 AM PDT

That may be right. It's also worth to note that Firefight maps are much larger than multiplayer maps.

It's not the helmet, the helmet is probably a MB or two. Reach is only about 7GB anyway, and it contains a lot of helmets.

Quite simply, we don't. This one is on shakier ground than San Andreas.

Its a possibility. Also on another thread someone who had early access to the defient map pack said that 343 told them that they would have to redownload it again once it was released and that it was 200MB bigger the second time.

Hrm... On Countdown and LNoS, I read UNSC GRD M142008 on some walls.
