I don't get how people like you think its an existing helmet. Its not.

  • 07.13.2011 1:34 PM PDT

Living in the past is a luxury none of us can afford. We must learn from it, but we can not live there. It is impossible to prepare for the now - the present is ever fleeting. The future is were we must live. The future is what we must plan for.

@ Luna yes I understand that but if you look at the haunted it not only contains the highest attachment of pilot but it also makes your visor see-through to look at a skull. So yes it still is a lot of attachment but it still is just a theory odds are it won't be correct. @ Spartan 101 I am not saying it exists but it obviously does not not (double negative meant) exist. Their are pictures of it floating around the internet of it. Now I will not say it is real or will be available to the people but lets just wait and see what is in store for us down the road. It very well could be some kind of hack/glitch but no one is neither confirming nor denying its existence either. So I would say it does exist just whether it is going to be allowed to the public or not is another story. So like I said we will just have to wait and see what 343i has in store for us.

keithtennyson

it wasnt even in the armory Evil otto confirmed it to me plz read my post on the last page

  • 07.13.2011 1:50 PM PDT

this is what otto sent to everbody-Today I came in to work to find there were nearly a hundred messages, mostly about the BOB or GRB helmet rumor. I am not going to type 100 messages today, so I am going to type once and paste it in all the questions. Here is my definitive answer:

Certain Affinity, under the direction of 343 industries, created the Defiant map pack. When Microsoft released screenshots of the Defiant pack, people noticed a previously un-seen helmet on one of the Spartans.

We at Bungie do not know what 343 has in store with this helmet, and the internet is full of theories. Like you, we will just have to wait and see what, if any, plans they have for it.

The rumor that the helmet was seen on Bungie day in the live stream is entirely rumor. Nobody saw it. Those that claim they have are simply trolling.

just becuz we cant get it doesnt mean its not real. im hoping it is cuz ign wouldnt show fakes

Random thought, and sorry if this has already been tried etc. I'm not sifting through 150 pages.

Since it does look like that thing from Marathon, there isn't a new Easter Egg in the iPad version of Marathon is there? With a code/something to unlock it?

Just a thought, I would look myself but alas, no iPad. :P

Born on board

This whole thread shouldn't even be here. It's been proven to be a 343 helmet. That right there should be the answer to the mystery.. What you will have to do to unlock it, or if they are even going to give it out is the question we should be asking.

Subject: Regarding BOBS. (Read Whole Post)

Ok my BOB searching fanatics, prepare for a large amount of text. I was just scouring bungie.net forums and i saw this hot topic which i had not noticed before. Now i've not gone rampantly through levels scouring every inch of the map for these BOB's, but let this fact run through your minds for a second...

Currently as of the moment, Bungie is still in control of Halo: Reach and with 343 giving the hesitating uncertainty on new armor, why would they release such an armor while bungie still has the handhold on Halo: Reach? the fact of the matter is to retain the population of Reach 343, as a break-off company from Bungie will have to give a lot before they will retain their numbers (keep people playing the game).

This being said the only reasonable conclusion for the fabled helmet is that if their is one (which i may be strayed to believe is true) then we shall have to wait and this is backed up by (i) the fact state above and (ii) the tireless amount of effort the bungie.net community and especially the OP's group HRS to find and kill every BOB they see.

any opinions or questions on any of the above feel free :D

Did anybody ever tought there must be a Banshee BOB hidden at the end of Nightfall?

I got a film (with cellphone) from Rally A and no BOBs spawned (so surely there must be another one) not sure if it is still uploaded at imageshack, but if not i can reupload it.

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Is it possible to add to your FAQ?

"What does BOB stand for?"

  • 07.13.2011 4:15 PM PDT

This topic is AWESOME and I know nearly nothing about BOB and the helmet. But I am sticking with this topic to learn more.

  • 07.13.2011 5:58 PM PDT

The GRD helmet may require something with max rank, killing all the BOBs, and collecting all of the data pads. The mystery of the ODST numbers QTA XII/VI may also have something to do with this. This may lead to an even bigger easter egg.

this

...also, with this being said, maybe there are players out there that have already unlocked this helmet but won't know they have until 343 officially takes the reins?

In that interview with Frank O'Connor he was stuttering the words "Not built into...." Probably was going to say not built into the disk. Know what that means??? We're going to have to wait for our answers to be answered

BOB was a sprite (character) that appeared in Durandal, the arcade game and stood for Born On Board.
