Subject: Reasons why the Warthog didn't have doors and gunner cover?

Think of realistic reasons why they didn't include doors in the Warthogs and actual cover for the Gunner aside from small plates around the gun.

- Speed
- Light weight(Explains A LOT)
- Agility

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

If it had doors, plasma would melt them trapping the driver and the co-pilot inside. Anyways, having no doors gives the occupants a much broader view of their surroundings.

The gunner has cover the way the barrel is facing, which would normall be where the enemy is at and where they are shooting from. It could be better, but it's good enough. It allows the gunner to jump of quickly for any number of reasons.

easy access

can jump out quick enough to escape explosions

so you see who's driving

higher visibility

Laughing At Nothing

It was the cheapest option.

Probably for the same reasons the doors on a modern HUMVEE are removable. There's no amount of armour you could put on a hog that would offer significant protection without seriously affecting performance.

Because it's a game.

It ruins the "jumps into wathog and start shooting everthing" routine.

Imagine hijacking a Warthog GTA-style : Yank open the door ,pull the driver out and srive away.

The money for the additional armor may not have been justified depending on the protection it provided.

'Real' plasma (and all the plasma in the books) MELTS -blam!-. If they can save 1/5 the raw material on each warthog and that 1/5 doesnt make a huge difference, it would make sense to not put it on.

Funny, because even in the books, it is mentioned they have lack of doors.

Not that I agree with flamedude, but the books were made after the game, and of course would have similarities.
