-not trying to fanfic this and not continuing in the forums with anything more, just want to put an idea out there for consideration of an expansion-

Noble Six was done for and he knew it, but he was going to take as many of the Covenant with him as he could. He and the Noble team had done everything that was expected of them and then some. They died honorably and they would be remembered, but Noble Six was not falling without ensuring that these Covenant within arm's reach, those that survived this fight that is, would also remember them. Remember how many of their own lives it took to bring just one Spartan down. If he could
leave that memory to haunt them in future engagements against the UNSC, then not only did his team find victory, but Six would find his own personal victory.

He was flat on his back, an elite having faked an overhand swing with it's sword and instead bringing the handle of the weapon down on his head. The last thing he saw was a red elite rearing his sword back for a final lunge. His vision blurred and Six could only hear what happened next. To his
suprise, it wasn't the hum of an energy sword punching through his armor, but rather two loud cracks like thunder. His ears were ringing from the noise, but his vision cleared enough for him to see a blurred picture of the red Elite drop it's sword and fall face first into the dirt next to him. He saw his other attackers moving away from him and when his sight went dark again, he heard something move near him, an Elite that stayed to finish him he assumed.

"Let's go Six. We still got a little work to do before we're allowed to die." came Jun's accent. Six thought maybe he had been killed after all or at best, hallucinating as his concussion kicked in.

"Your mad, I can't save Reach" he replied in almost a whisper "the planet will be glass in no time."

"You're right, but we might still be able to do some good before that happens, but first I need you to quit napping and grab your weapon...on your feet Spartan!"

Maybe I'm not done Six thought at least not yet...

Would you all like to see this continue as an expansion or an add-on with a few more missions on Reach before it's all said and done once and for all???

Good story, and this expansion would be a good way to explain what happens to Jun

  • 04.17.2011 7:03 PM PDT

Skeptical.. We've already saved the Pillar of Autumn, so there's not much more to do on Reach. This game was about shedding some light on the gears that made Chief's and Cortana's survival work out, making an expansion with a good plot after saving them would be very hard. Noble Six's end was epic enough, there is no reason to fumble in the ashes. Especially since Jun also is busy being Halsey's personal bodyguard.

Besides, why waste tons of resources and lives to save one dying Spartan? The area was filled with Covenant, everything from Grunts to Scarabs not to mention a whole fleet in orbit ready to glass the planet. It would be like remaking Saving Private Ryan except finding Ryan laying in a pool of plasma.

I see what you're saying Spurk and I'm not saying that Six or Jun survive (or whatever becomes of Jun, quite honestly not familiar with the novels and other canon...), Six still dies, but give them a little something to do with a bigger end to it; I just was suprised personally when the game ended. I loved the campaign, but it seemed like the build up to the big finish wasn't quite there as it was for the other Halos. I was suprised when the credits rolled, was expecting one more mission as an ending (i.e. the destruction of Reach or even something akin to the end of the "Deliver Hope" trailer prior to Reach's release).
I thought Six went out like a champ, but I wouldn't call it Epic and Epic has been the standard for the end of Halo...?

Six is dead, end of story. Jun is halfway across Reach and could not save him.

Reach's story? Yes. The OP's, not so much.

Reach's story had more holes that Spongebob.

Sure, it would ruin canon and the emotional ending, but I like that. Maybe Jun and 6 would fight their way to Castle base.

6 would leave his helmet behind though.

Actually no it really wouldn't =P The emotional ending? Sure, that would be completely bupkiss. But canon wouldn't be ruined by having Six survive, just so long as she couldn't get on the Autumn, canon is still fine and dandy.

I'm not against fanfics bringing Six back or keeping him/her alive, but I don't think any game expansion or canon released by 343 will bring Six back. She is dead...now Jorge on the other hand, they could bring him back if they wanted to and they wouldn't really be bringing him back from the dead :P

I would find it hard to believe Jun would go all the way from Menachite Mountain, referenced to be in the Viery territory, to Aszod just in the nick of time to save Six.

Tallahassee?
I spent two weeks in Tallahassee one night.

I would like to see more, but if I don't its no big deal. Just a question what were you going to have him and Jun do?

I agree, I was just saying that canon would not be ruined if Six somehow survived, Jun doing the saving? Yeah, that's crazy talk (though I really have no idea of what Reach's geography looks like so I can't judge the distance between CASTLE and the ship breaking yards).

  • 04.17.2011 8:39 PM PDT

I agree that Reach wasn't nearly as epic as the Deliver Hope trailer. There was too many "do this, do that" skirmishes while an astronomic battle roared in the background..
But the part after you kill the Cruiser is pretty epic in my opinion. The Pillar takes off and you are left on a desolate battleground with some of Marty's best music ever and even a Star Wars quote (There'll be another time). Then you litteraly fight to the death and even more epic music kicks in while that iconic Reach mountain is seen in the background.

@ The Repo; Well, I figured on it having the ability to go a couple of different ways, worst case scenario (and least exciting) they try to save more of the rebels and stumble onto something bigger going on that needs to be stopped (i.e. off the top of my head, Covenant trying to steal the Spartan program tech to see if they might be able to create an enhanced Elite...? It would be something they did in secret of course as would anything major that happened since the Elites would never admit to using the "demon" tech and also so that it could go around the existing canon) I don't quite have that worked out yet.
Even at the rate of trying to save more of the rebels, trying to get them off the planet before it's destroyed could still offer a bit more fun and allow for another ending.

Also everyone, bare in mind that I'm not saying Six survives for all time...just a little while longer. If the canon says Jun can't be there than with a little creative writing, a badly beat up and wounded Emile might save Six instead (even though that's a stretch)

If not for an expansion, I think there's still a story/novel there that I might start pecking at. I just want to at least get a decent poll number going with some more input to see if it's worth doing to the fans like us.

@switch; yeah, apologies all, I saw the updated forum guidelines after the fact, but like I said originally, this isn't quite fanfic, it's the opening to what could be the start of an expansion, just needed canon authorities to step in and give me some input, thank you all for that, by the way...

Halsey's Journal had a map of the Viery Territory in it. Aszod is very far away from SWORD and CASTLE.

I'd love to see Jun and 6 working together. I've always wanted to continue their story how they would find a way to get to CASTLE Base/a way off the planet and/or go for black ops together.

can I post this in The Gallery since that may be the better forum for it??? I thought I remembered reading something awhile back about not posting the same subject to different forums...? If that's the case, I'll just leave it here as is as long as no one has issue with it...
just not quite as big a response as I was hoping for in terms of feedback, but I posted at the wrong time; late last night, it might get a bit more once everyone's outta work/school today....
anyhow, thanks for the input so far everyone

up to twenty-two replies, was looking for at least fifty to make a solid call on whether or not the story had enough interest to it to continue on, if not as a legitimate expansion idea then possibly as just a story that may end up in the gallery...? little help...
