I was reading Halopedia the battle of Reach, and according to them, Halo: Reach happened before the Station Fermion detected the massive Covenant attack.

At first was a nice theory, but in the battle of New Alexandria, is under attack and there lies the UNSC HQ. It could be impossible for many reasons.

First: If by this time HQ is under attack and even being glassed by two Covenant Battlecruisers CSS class, and according to them Halo: Reach is before "The fall of Reach" where were all the super MACs to stop them then?

Red Team was already on the ground fighting the Covenant, and it's clearly at this point the sky crowded with Covenant warships everywhere.

And goes on and on, so Halo: Reach events cannot be before "The fall or Reach".

My question here is, maybe the events of bouth storys must be mixed in just different places?

Maybe I'm bored and tired to make this 2 storys to match without breaking canon...

Truthfully, I can't explain that. Quite simply, there has to be a retcon and Fermion's impoirtance is reduced.

Dot said the planet's orbital defenses were offline during the mission Tip of The Spear. They probably come back online later only to be destroyed by The Fleet of Particular Justice during August 30th.

They fit pretty well if you ask me.

Yes, the events in the book and game can mesh together.

There is some problems though. Alot acctually. It's late and I don't feel like typing a whole lot, so hopefully someone else will explain.

Also, OP; there are a ton of pre- existing threads exactly like this. Search.

I did, I have all the books and I've read them countless times. I was just wanted to know how Halopedia was organizing the events of the Battle of Reach.

The fact that Red team is already back on Reach and defending the MAC generators means that Halo: Reach timeline wasn't before the timeline of "the fall of Reach".

They were evacuating civilians, not defending the generators. They could've gotten on the Autumn later and went right back down to Reach to the generators.

"We leave lots of hooks for future development buried in the text, to accomodate several ideas/stories we have percolating. Some may see the light of day, some may not.

In general, its best to chalk such discrepancies up to "the fog of war" and if we get the chance, we've got a great explanation for the apparent discontinuity."-Eric Trautmann

The level New Alexandria is taking place several days after the Battle of Reach has really begun and I'm pretty sure the orbital defenses would have some small holes in them so a couple ships may have been able to break through. Also the SMACs were only concentrated in one area, whether that area covers New Alexandria or not I don't know. And IIRC, the Covenant ships attacking NA were Corvettes, and all the Corvettes in Reach were brought with the LNoS, so they would have already been hiding out on Reach and would not have had to punch through the defenses.

Red Team was already on the ground fighting the Covenant, and it's clearly at this point the sky crowded with Covenant warships everywhere.

I think it's very likely that the two could be spliced together and events might not be in the exact same places anymore, I'd say, since we don't have too much information available right now, go with what we've been given and arrange it in an order you think fits best.
