Subject: Thel 'Vadam appearance in Reach

I started up the heated debate on whether the SPARTAN-II in the cryo tube near the end of Reach is really Linda.
I created the Moa XING avatar pic.
Also I earned the All Star nameplate with this submission to Week 14 All Stars http://www.bungie.net/images/News/Inline11/bwu_0415/art/likea boss.jpg

I would have posted this thread in the Reach forum but that forum is now just a bunch of 13 year olds complaining about Armor Lock, Rank, etc.
Anyway, do you think that Thel 'Vadam should have had an appearance in Reach's campaign? Like maybe when you get into the Ardent Prayer's bridge and you can see on a monitor Thel giving a message to the crew that his fleet is about to arrive (of course it would be in Covie language.)
And maybe Auntie dot starts to decode the message and she says it's about a fleet, then you see the fleet arrive.

That sounds good. I also think Johnson should have been in the campaign.

He was the commander of the fleet that took over Reach, so yeah.

His was but one of several fleets assaulting Reach. Not the fleet to attack Reach and take Reach let alone the forces operating with the LNOS before any fleet arrived.

There's no reason for him to be the one giving orders unless he's the one actually in charge of LNOS which he was not. If anything a transmission from Truth, Regret, or Mercy would be warranted in this case.

Edit: As for what Recovery said, Johnson got his cameo in Reach already brief as it may be. He reports in from Gamma Station noting that "[he's] picking up anomalies too" once the Covenant reinforcements being slipping in system.

Agreed, but you definately hear Johnson in campaign. At the end of LNoS you hear him say "Yeah, we're reading anomoly's too." but a visual cameo would have been cooler.

I'm glad that he wasn't included. I hate overkill easter eggs.

I don't think that is Johnson I went back and watched it and it didn't sound like Johnson. Yes they say gamma station which Johnson was on, but I don't thing it's him. Here is the cutscene. The part your talking about is a little before 2:00.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Johnson was on Gamma Station on August 30th - the same time John, Linda and James were aboard the Circumference. It cannot be Johnson, unless Bungie decided to go ahead and retcon that now...

Unless Johnson and his team were part of the station's security detail.

In any case it still sounds like David Scully is the one voicing that line regardless of whether it's as Johnson or a generic marine sergeant.

I'd have to check TFOR to see whether Johnson was assigned to Gamma Station after Paris IV. As far as I'm aware David Scully only voices Johnson in Firefight and various Sangheili.

When I say generic I mean the times where the voice is just given to random models (for example Stacker's voice being lent to random army troopers or marines in Reach and the other Halo games), or simply for very minor parts that consist of only a few lines. Such parts would not be credited in the credits list.

I understood what you meant, I'm just wondering whether it could have been Johnson because he was indeed transferred to Gamma Station. David Scully is well known for being fluid in many different accents and voices, if he did indeed voice the Marine that sounded similar to Johnson he could have done it in any voice he liked.

You were totally and absolutely correct in every way, I don't know why we were arguing, you're so amazing I should never have doubted you.

I want another cutscene with Thel naked.

Correct me if I'm truly wrong, but that voice had a Brooklyn style accent. Not Johnson's.

Regardless of who voiced that line, that wasn't a Brooklyn accent in the slightest bit...I'm imagining you're probably thinking of another New York accent of sorts.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Johnson, Thel, and John should all have made appearances in addition to Keyes and Cortana.

Isn't one of the "side missions" on New Alexandria to defend Johnson and his marines against a Brute force?

It doesn't pop up often for me but I'm sure it is.

No, that's Sergeant Major Duvall.

Today a young man on acid realized that we are merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are one conciousness experiencing its self subjectively. Life is but a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves.
Here's Tom with the weather...

It's not a "War On Drugs", it's a war on personal freedom.

Who was Thel anyway?
Was that The Arbiter's name?
Sorry, I can never keep the names of Elites straight. They all have such similar names like "GLaDOS 'Manatee" or something equally confounding...

I think there should have been a boss fight against an Arbiter on Reach. Don't care about seeing Thel Vadamee though

There was no Arbiter on Reach, the "boss fight" was at the end of The Pillar of Autumn against the Field Marshall who has been hunting down Noble Team ever since Visegrad Relay.
