Subject: How to tell if the moderators are online

Mine is hidden jerkface... would it kick us out if we had a joint MSN account and signed into multiple locations?

It would.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

I just use Google talk and the corresponding Gmail. It works pretty well. Most of the time I am on though there is a Mod taking care of business already. I don't think we need anything to show whether they are online are not.

Keep up the good work, ninjas. They are on and doing their job. That is all i care about. I see a lot of locked threads and I know people who have been banned recently. They are doing what ninjas do: they are silent and powerful. Would ninjas go around with loudspeakers announcing their positions to everyone? No. That is what grunts would do, and ninjas > grunts.

Indeed it would, with a nasty message telling you that you can bump them out by clicking on the pop-up. MSN is not a good shared IM resource.

Google-talk isn't bad, except that the ninjas logging on at the same time are unaware of each other and cannot see what another ninja is saying to a member.

I just watched Shaymus' chat with someone, but I only saw Shaymus' messages. If I had joined in and replied, he would/could have gotten two ninjas replying who couldn'y see each other. I can imagine how that could get confusing for everyone.

But it's better than nothing and while I am at work, IRC is completely out of the question.

Ok I just might have to log into it and start messing with people... that'd be so funny.

Google talk can be really confusing at times. I always confuse the people i'm talking to which sometimes pisses the mods off. The basically the only bad thing about google talk.

I know a sure-fire way to see if a moderator is online at all. Spam a forum. Not a very good idea, but at least you know there's a mod online.

Well, what if there was a page that actually did say which moderators were online, but you had to be signed in to view it, and from the time you view that page to about half an hour after you leave that page, your IP will be banned, sort of, for about thirty minutes from posting anything, but you'd still be able to send private messages. If you plan on spamming, you'd have to wait thirty minutes to commence the spamming, and by then, a moderator may have signed in, so you'd run that risk. However, I'm sure that if someone was being a racist jerk or something, somebody else would sacrifice thirty minutes of posting privileges to inform a moderator of the bad poster. I know I could use Google Talk or something, but the moderators might be offline for Google Talk or whatever but online for Bungie.net (I assume you have to sign in to use Google Talk, but correct me if it's something like a program that automatically shows you a message and your computer is always signed in or whatever).

The ninjas have everything under control. The run the forums well and evil doers are punished.

Bad idea. If spammers see that no mods are online, chaos erupts.

Indeed. It's better when you have no idea if we're there or not.

I'll be on my own side.

I would just have my AIM SN in my sig. I'm always online, as I usually have work to do, so it wouldn't be a problem.

Seems easier.

Trust me, they are online. We just don't usually notice what they do. They are silent, deadly, and precise.

wait wait wait are mods doing their work from a bungie place or from home??
( i think im missing somehting)

  • 01.18.2006 1:49 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

The mods(except for Shishka, I think) all do their moderating duties from home, school, etc. They don't work for or get paid by Bungie, nor do they go to Bungie HQ.

The guys who post in yellow text are Bungie employees, meaning they work at Bungie Studios.

If u add them on ur friend list u can see when there on, and bungie can always tell when there on

  • 01.18.2006 7:36 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

Imagine the length of their lists.

They would have to have two categories. Fellow Ninjas, and Common Scum.

My list is actually split up into A-team (moderators, Bungie guys), Bungie Jumpers, Jerks (people I know outside Bungie), and an unnamed section of current people that add me from the site. I would not be surprised one bit if some of the "fellow ninjas" have sections marked off for active ninjas and drunken, useless ninjas. =P

Actually, I've got ZFamily (4), Those Bastards (Bungie related people, 67) and A Group Of Friends (School people, 23).
