Subject: What Surprized You The Most In The Halo Universe?

Road To Recon Unlocked on : 28th of march 2010

IMO; It was when The Brutes took on the role of the Elites during Halo 2.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

The Flood.

They scared the living hell out of me back then.

Them and the ODST´s, which when I first saw them, I thought they were cheaper versions of the Chief. Seems like my instincts werent far off back then when Ghosts of Onyx came out and showed the Spartan III´s.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Reach.

I didn't think Bungie could make a story that bad.

I agree Reach´s story could have been better, much better. But as a standalone game, it was great.

Thing is people expected to much out of Reach and were greatly dissapointed in what they did not show.

When it turned out that the Forerunners were enemies with both Precursors and Humans.

or

When it turned out Johnson was alive at the beginning of Halo 2.

Reach was nothing more than a convoluted dichotomy of Halo's story. Generic and archetypal characters that lacked any form of development; awful voice acting; very linear level design (the only levels you have any real choice on how to approach the mission is Winter Contingency and ONI SWORD Base); tramples over 9 years of canon through excessive retconning of events.

It's a massive dip in quality from the other games, even Halo 3 is better than Reach by a mile. This is the problem with prequels, they mostly end up being utter shyte (*cough* Star Wars *cough*).

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

The Flood. I'm just blowing -blam!- up with a Scorpion tank, then I go to a swamp and get attacked by zombies. I skipped the Jenkins video by accident, and had no clue what I was supposed to be fighting. All I saw was the name of the area: The Flood

My response was: "The what? Hey what am I suppo- OH SHI- *Gets buried by Infection Forms and dies. Pees pants.

Reach.

I didn't think Bungie could make a story that bad.

The story wasn't terrible it just made everything we knew and loved irrelevant.

Enjoy what you have and live on.

My gamertag is Elder Bias

I would say two most important events that surprised me that great is MC helped Admiral Dansforth to blow up 500-strong fleet with High Clarity, only destroying most of fleet and High Clarity, only leaving twelve ships to survive. It has to be highest count of kills gathered by a man in the UNSC history, it beats all SPARTANs's count of kills combined. (From first strike book)

Second is that Introduction of Flood. It scared me as I first fought against those hideous creature, only using shotgun. Mother-blam!-s were swarming everywhere and it was crazy as -blam!-.

It was both.

Look at ODST, Wars and Halo 2. That's Halo, Reach was nothing but a failure of epic proportions in terms of campaign.

After all is said and done, you will be the one respawning.

how fast Bungie is willing to kill their cash cow (Halo).

I agree, there isn't even a main plot until the end of "The Package." All the random crap (other missions) may as well have not been in Reach.

The Prophet of Truth, and his mentality. That, and pretty much all information provided by Halo: Cryptum.

ODST deserved to be the 3 year project more than Reach. Reach should have been a mere expansion with a few levels detailing Red Team on Reach.

You can believe that as much as you want, and you may be right. But you're getting off-topic. Seemed important to note since you continue to do so.

When playing the Halo 3 campaign before any of the other campaigns and not knowing shyte about what's going on, especially The Ark opening, and ESPECIALLY The Flood. I shat steaming blocks of rock when "Floodgate" commenced and a bunch of green blobs of meat dough and blarg swarmed me and The Arbiter.
