I play better when I'm calm, when I haven't been bullsh.itted by hostbooters the games before. When I start a winning streak with whoever I play with.

I also make sure (whenever I am about to boost) that I've eaten, got a full glass of cold water in front of me and some cigarettes at hand. I don't play seriously when I'm pissed off because it means that I just make rookie errors.

You are what you eat! Your reactions and your hand eye co-ordination can be severally affected by poor diet, dehydration or lack of sleep.

Don't drink too many sugary drinks, even energy drinks, although they give you a pep at first you'll soon feel tired from them. Try and eat carbs and starch, things like pasta and vegetables, don't eat junk like crisps and chocolate bars.

The room temperature can also have an impact, you want to stay cool and comfortable since your body will heat itself up when you're playing games, believe it or not.

Don't sit too close to your screen even when you're trying to focus because you'll end up straining your eyes, sometimes it's not noticable but it will cause a tiny tiny delay in your reactions, it's all about getting that first shot :)

Ensure your hands are dry and your controller is clean and free of greece.

Most importantly go into a game with the mentality you're going to demolish every single player. Don't bother checking the other teams ranks because sometimes you'll put yourself in a mind set that you're going to lose and you'll play different.

Just remember. You. Are. Awesome.

Not sure what you mean here, I'm giving "Scientifical" reasons why people play good, should apply to everyone.

Yeah, I never think "F.uck they're going to win" because when I do I just end up playing badly, panicing a lot.

"No way I can't believe this!"- Dr. Eggman in Sonic Adventure

You posting this thread surprises me because the answer is quite logical, but my attempt to answer your curiosity is simply: mental composure (how well your brain is processing at the time).

It has to do with interaction. It's that simple.

Your surroundings, the food you eat, your mood, stress, lack of sleep, etc. can affect your performance.

I'm a good player, probably the best left on Halo 3. The only thing holding me back is American/Euro/Mexican Host. Give me a good connection and I will be unstoppable. I guess Bungie sees that, and agrees that it would be unfair for me to ever have a good connection.

This dude talks about this very topic in this gameplay. Even though I don't follow his guidelines I trust his advice because his gameplays are pretty sick.

It's kind of complicated, I have to be sitting just right, the volume on my TV has to be perfect, not too loud. And I must be fresh, if I play Halo without taking a shower first I suck so much donkey balls not that I'm incredibly good but still. Same reason why I mostly don't do that good when I play at night, since everyone's sleeping I can't turn my volume too loud thus making me play worse.
