The main UNSC ships we see are frigates... Where are the Marathon class cruisers?

Why are half the pieces on a chess board Pawns?

nice.

While I agree with orphan, I would have liked to see more cruisers and maybe even a carrier or two in the games.

true, it would have been cool to see The Trafalgar in Halo Reach, wouldve been cool to see any decent ships in Halo Reach

Old GTs; RebelRobot, Flamedude

I thought it was a shame we didnt see anything of the Trafalgar, even drifting wreckage would have been good.

If they ever remake Halo 2 or have some kind campagine DLC for Reach that shows the space battle, or atleast part of it, then maybe we might see some interesting ships other than Frigates and Cruisers.

well said, a decent space battle wouldnt go amiss

We don't see Marathons because there were only approximately 12 outside the Home Fleet of Earth, and they were extremely expensive to manufacture.

A Frigate is much cheaper on manpower and materials, while providing a smaller target for the Covenant.

Those numbers are very hard to believe. The UNSC could have been lying about those numbers. In Halo 2 there appears to be a larger amount of Marathons at Earth than stated. But thats what I think, you could be very much more correct than me. And I agree, frigates are much cheaper and they use less resources than a Marathon

Bungie.Match.com: Our Johnson knows what the ladies like.

The frigates (I'm guessing) are easier to make than the other types, so they'd make more of them.

well the Marathon class was out of date hence there wasnt many of them left and there were newer models of cruisers by Halo 2

They're the most cost-effective ships. They contain one MAC gun, meaning that two Frigates equal a Destroyer in firepower and are harder to kill. Marathon cruisers are just a giant waste of resources and don't carry the firepower to justify that.
